Tong Thanayut Thakoonauttaya
BIOGRAPHY
Tong Thanayut Thakoonauttaya (Thai: ต๋อง ธนายุทธ ฐากูรอรรถยา; born January 26, 1992) is a Thai actor and model. He is best known for playing Tankhun Theerapanyakun, the eldest of the three brothers, in KinnPorsche (2022), and for Thorn in TharnType (2019), the series that started his career.
He was born in Bangkok and did not train as a performer. He graduated from Chulalongkorn University with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology, and went on to take a master’s degree in brand management and marketing at the same university and a further master’s at the National Institute of Development Administration. He never intended to work in entertainment and came to it by chance, after walking past a casting session and being urged to try out.
His screen debut came in 2019 as Thorn in TharnType, a thirteen-episode series, and he returned to the property in the 2021 special TharnType 2: The Wedding Day. He appeared as himself on Sound Check in 2021 and played Paper in the six-episode Second Chance the same year.
TharnType aired on One 31 and LINE TV from 7 October 2019 to 6 January 2020. Me Mind Y produced it and Bundit Sintanaparadee directed it. A special titled Our Final Love was then screened at the Siam Pavalai Royal Grand Theatre on 19 January 2020, a live reunion for the first cast after the broadcast finished.
In KinnPorsche he plays Tankhun, who has not left the upper floor of the family compound in years. The character carries much of the series’ comic register across its fourteen episodes.
KinnPorsche aired on One 31 from 2 April to 9 July 2022. Be On Cloud produced it, and Kongkiat Komesiri, Krisda Witthayakhajorndet and Banchorn Vorasataree shared the directing. Around Tankhun stood Mile Phakphum Romsaithong as Kinn, Apo Nattawin Wattanagitiphat as Porsche, Bible Wichapas Sumettikul as Vegas, Barcode Tinnasit Isarapongporn as Porchay and Build Jakapan Puttha as Pete. The series took Y Series of the Year at the Feed Y Capital Awards 2022 and Best Y Series at the National Radio and Television Awards 2023.
He appeared in the 2023 period film ManSuang, from Be On Cloud, playing Hong alongside Mile Phakphum Romsaithong and Apo Nattawin Wattanagitiphat. Since then he has appeared as himself on Loma Papai (2024), played Krist in HIDDEN (2024), returned as Thorn in The Boy Next World (2025), and is credited in Dark Legacy, scheduled for 2026.
The Brother Upstairs
Watched KinnPorsche? Then you already know Tankhun, and that is Tong Thanayut’s doing. In KinnPorsche he plays Tankhun Theerapanyakun, the eldest of the three brothers, who has not left the upper floor of the family compound in years, and who handles a big share of the series’ comedy across fourteen episodes. Staying in one place and still stealing scenes? Talent.
The Microbiologist Who Walked Past a Casting Call
My favourite origin story of the week. Tong has a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Chulalongkorn University, a master’s in brand management and marketing there too, and another master’s from NIDA. He never planned on entertainment. He walked past a casting session, got urged to try out, and that was that. Science lost, BL won.
Thorn, Then Thorn Again
His debut was Thorn in TharnType in 2019, thirteen episodes on One 31 and LINE TV, and he came back for the 2021 special TharnType 2: The Wedding Day. Then in 2025, a character called Thorn turns up again in The Boy Next World, played by him. Some names just stick.
Pick Your Tong
Start with KinnPorsche for Tankhun, then go back to TharnType for where it all began. Fancy a period film? ManSuang in 2023 has him as Hong alongside Mile and Apo. And HIDDEN in 2024 has him as Krist.
