Vera Hsu, credited in Chinese as 徐薇婷 and in transliteration as Hsu Wei-Ting or Wei-Ting XU, is a Taiwanese producer. Six credits are on the public record, and one production company runs through all of them.
The earlier work is genre cinema and crime drama. Plurality (複身犯, 26 February 2021) is a science fiction thriller made with the Kaohsiung Film Fund. Taiwan Crime Stories (台灣犯罪故事, 4 January 2023) is a twelve episode crime anthology that went out on Disney+, produced with Imagine Entertainment. Murmur of Memories (溟溟, 16 June 2023) is a drama on which Vera Hsu is credited as executive producer, and Antikalpa (化劫, 21 June 2023) is a horror film released five days after it. A sixth credit, the single episode Gunshot (鎗聲), carries no date on record.
The queer credit is Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars (向流星許願的我們), twelve episodes of about forty five minutes from 26 March 2026, carried exclusively in Taiwan on LINE TV. It is adapted from a work by Chung Min-Jui (鍾旻瑞) published by the literary press 九歌出版社, directed by Chiang Jui-chih (姜瑞智), and produced by Vera Hsu together with Sammi Pan (潘心慧). Chung Yueh-hsuan and Chu Meng-hsuan lead, with Yu Chieh-en and Kota Kagami in the second pairing. TMDB classifies it as boys’ love (bl), gay romance, lgbt, romantic fantasy and healing. The premise follows a man who wishes to disappear, wakes with a different identity, and then has to decide what to do when the person he loves begins to recognise him.
The Chinese Wikipedia article on that series records it as the fifth boys’ love production from 有意思國際傳媒 (Yoiisz International Media), made jointly with 犢影制作 (CalFilm Production), and the fifth BL series made by the Sammi Pan and Chiang Jui-chih partnership.

CalFilm Production is on all six credits. A science fiction thriller part funded by a municipal film fund. A crime anthology for Disney+ with Imagine Entertainment attached. A horror film. A drama. And a twelve episode boys’ love series on LINE TV. That is one company’s slate, and BL sits on it beside horror and crime without any apparent ceremony.
The credit structure on that BL series is worth reading carefully, because the obvious summary is wrong. CalFilm is a co-producer, not the lead. The lead company is 有意思國際傳媒, and Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars is its fifth BL series, with the same producer, Sammi Pan, and the same director, Chiang Jui-chih, attached to all five. The supporting company is the one whose name appears on everything Vera Hsu has made, which is a different fact from the one it looks like at first glance.
Read that way, the Taiwanese picture has three routes rather than one. GagaOOLala, a platform that became a producer because nobody else would finance what it wanted to carry. Yoiisz International Media, a BL specialist with five titles and a standing producer and director partnership. And CalFilm Production, a genre house whose ordinary commercial slate now includes a BL series alongside a Disney+ anthology. Three answers to the same question, none of them dependent on the others.
The third of those is the one this page is really about, and it echoes something visible in Bangkok. The producer of the GL feature Uranus 2324 spent five years scoring the Pee Nak horror films and went back to composing for the fifth one afterwards. Genre production keeps turning out to be the neighbouring room to queer drama, in Thailand and in Taiwan alike. Both need to be made quickly, on controlled budgets, by people who can deliver a finished thing on a schedule. The crossover is not thematic. It is industrial.
