SYNOPSIS

My Stand-In (Thai: ตัวนาย ตัวแทน) is a 2024 Thai Boys' Love series produced by YYDS Entertainment as an iQIYI Original. Twelve episodes were released weekly on iQIYI from 26 April to 12 July 2024.

Joe (Poom Phuripan Sapsangsawat) is a stuntman who works as a stand-in for Ming (Up Poompat Iam-samang), the heir to a film company he has loved without return for years. After a betrayal and a fatal accident, Joe wakes in another man's body and comes back into Ming's life as someone else. The supporting storylines follow Tong (Jirakit Thawornwong), Sol (Tanathorn Charoenratanaporn), Jim (Possathorn Wittanyaprechapol) and Yim (Chaiyut Panchukiat).

The series is adapted from a Chinese web novel by Shui Qiancheng (水千丞), and was reported at announcement as the first Chinese web novel adapted into a Thai drama.

The premise does something most body-swap stories avoid: it keeps the power gap intact after the swap. Joe does not come back as an equal, he comes back as another employee, and the series has to earn the reconciliation inside the same arrangement that produced the original harm. That is a harder structure than the usual second-chance setup and it is the reason the runtimes creep past an hour by the end.

The production context is worth noting on its own. A Chinese web novel adapted by a Thai studio for a Chinese-owned platform, released in three editions at once including a Spanish dub, is a distribution shape that did not exist in Thai BL a few years ago.
