The story begins with Inspector Thiartha Phiromsamorn, called Thiar, whose mother believes his bad luck can be broken by marriage to the right person. The bride she has in mind must be born on Monday 13 October and have a name containing the Thai consonant ro ruea. The only person who fits is his junior officer, Police Senior Sergeant Major Mangkorn Phianwanich. The two agree to a contract marriage that is meant to end after six months. Complications follow from the people around them, including an ex, a superior and a prophecy that Thiar's misfortune could pass to his spouse.

Yin Anan Wong plays Thiartha and War Wanarat Ratsameerat plays Mangkorn. Boss Thapanat Athikompokin plays Police Senior Sergeant Major Lukphlab Phanphoprak, and Parn Thanaporn Wagprayoon plays Thiar's mother. A match made by conditions

The marriage in Police in Love begins as a problem to be solved, not a romance to be discovered. Thiar's mother treats his bad luck as something a wedding can repair, and she narrows the search with a birth date and a consonant. Mangkorn happens to meet both conditions, so the pairing is set before either man has expressed a preference. That gives the comedy a clear rule at the start, and the interest lies in watching what a rule written by a third party does to two people who now live as a married couple.

Six months as a built in clock

The contract is meant to dissolve after half a year, so every scene between the leads carries an expiry date. A fortune teller's warning that the misfortune may transfer to a spouse raises the cost of staying married and of leaving it.
