About this archive
Pop performance under a management company is a defined career track, distinct from acting or solo music, and this credit marks people who came up through it. Idols are usually recruited and trained by an agency, often for a considerable period before debut, and presented as part of a group with a coordinated image, choreography, release schedule and promotional cycle.
The crossover into BL and GL is now routine in several markets. Acting is treated as an extension of the same contract: companies that manage groups also place members in dramas, and a series can be developed partly to give an artist screen experience. Traffic runs the other way too, with performers who debuted as actors later releasing music through an affiliated label. Because group activities and filming compete for the same calendar, drama appearances often cluster in the gaps between album cycles.
This credit is useful for understanding availability and career shape. It explains why a performer may appear intensively for one season and then not at all, why the promotion around a series looks the way it does, and which company is coordinating both halves of the career.
