A page like this one is short because the industry it comes from is built that way, not because the work is minor. Philippine BL runs largely on YouTube, financed by boutique production houses rather than networks, and a first-time lead in that system typically arrives with no agency, no press kit and no launch interview. The record is thin at the source. We would rather say that clearly than pad the page out with things nobody has actually established.

What we can do is place the debut properly, and the placing is the interesting part. Xion Lim, who directed The Boyfriend Express, is described on TMDB as the third generation of a family film business and the head of Oxin Films, a boutique house operating since 2001. Under the Oxin name, across its various company registrations, we count eleven earlier series on TMDB and every single one of them carries the boys’ love keyword: My Day (2020), House Rules (2020), Rainbow Prince (2022), My Story (2023), Tie The Not (2023), Our Story (2023), Sky Valley (2024), Haunted Hearts (2024, co-produced with Regal Entertainment), Sashes and Hearts (2025), Hermoso (2025) and Sereno (2025). Then comes The Boyfriend Express. That is not a company that occasionally makes a BL. That is a company whose entire television output is BL, sustained for six years.

Andrei de Guzman is therefore not debuting into an experiment. Harry is a lead role in the twelfth production of an established BL house, opposite an actor the same director launched. The first credit for Aki Torres was My Day in 2020, also directed by Xion Lim. Six years later the two are working together again with a new co-lead in the frame. Whatever else can be said about a one-credit filmography, being cast opposite a director’s own returning lead is not the same as being cast into nothing.

An admission about our own coverage. Of those twelve Oxin titles, this database currently holds exactly one, The Boyfriend Express itself. Eleven Filipino BL series connected to the same director and company are missing from a site that exists to catalogue BL. We have logged all eleven for entry. We are also noting one detail we did not expect to find while checking: Sky Valley (2024) carries both the boys’ love and the girls’ love keyword, which would make it the rare Oxin title working in both, and it deserves a proper look rather than a line in someone else’s profile.
