Chen Yan-syu - Taiwanese singer and actor, F.F.O member, in Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars

Chen Yan-syu

BIOGRAPHY

Chen Yan-syu (Chinese: 陳彥旭; also romanised Chen Yan Xu and Chen Yen-hsu; born January 25, 2007) is a Taiwanese singer and actor. He performs under the mononym Yanxu as a member of the seven-piece T-Pop boy group F.F.O, and is managed by TPOP Entertainment in partnership with Black Belt Entertainment.

He reached the group through Taiwan’s Atom Boyz idol survival franchise, appearing as a contestant before being placed in the line-up that became F.F.O. The group launched in late 2024 and takes its name from the twin readings “Farfarout” and “Future For One”, the image of boys arriving from a distant asteroid, and a promise directed at the fanbase. Its other members are Junjia, Junxi, Xiao Xin, Shengming, Ryushi Kato and Zhiqi.

In 2026 he made his acting debut in the Taiwanese BL series Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars, playing He Xiang-yong across all twelve episodes opposite Max Kuo, who plays Chen Hao-wei. At the series preview screening he said he had never expected to be cast in a drama at all, described the audition as an ordeal of nerves, and credited his scene partner with carrying him through it.

His character is the teenage He Xiang-yong, the younger self of the man Jed Chung plays as an adult, so the series gives him a role that has to match another actor’s performance at a later age. The drama premiered on Thursday, March 26, 2026 on LINE TV in Taiwan with Ray Jiang directing, and each of its twelve episodes runs roughly thirty to forty minutes. In the present-day story the grown Xiang-yong loses his job in Taipei, goes back to his hometown on an island and wishes not to be recognised. The wish comes true, he is known as Zhong Xiao-you, and Chu Meng-hsuan plays the adult Chen Hao-wei, who comes back into his life.

A survival-show contestant made his first screen appearance in a twelve-episode BL series.

His route into drama ran through televised competition rather than acting studios: the Atom Boyz format placed him in F.F.O in 2024, and Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars followed in 2026.

The series streamed on GagaOOLala, Viki, iQIYI and YouTube.

The timeline is compact. He was born in 2007, joined F.F.O when the group launched in late 2024, and made his acting debut in 2026, so his first scripted role came roughly a year and a half after the group’s launch. He Xiang-yong runs through all twelve episodes opposite Max Kuo as Chen Hao-wei, which means the debut is a full-length part rather than a single guest appearance. His two identities, a member of a seven-piece group with six named colleagues and a lead in a boys’ love series, both belong to the stretch between late 2024 and 2026.

In my view, a first role as someone’s younger self is a demanding place to start, because the performance is judged against the adult actor rather than on its own. Someone who comes from a group setting, where every move is shared with six others, is at least used to working to a common standard. For a listener who already knows F.F.O, I would suggest watching the first episodes with that comparison in mind.
