Po Yen-hua
BIOGRAPHY
Po Yen-hua (Chinese: 柏妍樺; known professionally as Bobo; born March 1, 2000) is a Taiwanese actor signed to iStar Entertainment.
Her first substantial screen role was in the sixty-episode Taiwanese daily drama Uncle (2023), in which she plays Xia Wen Li. She followed it with Our Honorary Photo Studio (2024), another sixty-episode daily drama, in which she plays Gao A Lian, a century-old household deity. The cast of that drama also includes the veteran actor Ko Shu-yuan. Her later credits are the film Mudborn, in which she plays Hsiao-Chao, and the 2026 BL series Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars, in which she has a supporting role.
In Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars she is part of a wide supporting ensemble that also includes Kota Kagami as Aomi Hamaguchi and Yu Jie En as Li Wan-zhe. The fantasy romance premiered on Thursday, March 26, 2026 on LINE TV in Taiwan, with Ray Jiang directing twelve episodes that run between roughly thirty and forty minutes, and it is also available on Viki and GagaOOLala. Its hero, He Xiang-yong, is a laid-off office worker who returns to his island hometown and mysteriously becomes unrecognisable to those around him. Jed Chung plays him opposite Chu Meng-hsuan as Chen Hao-wei.
If you are new to her work, the order I would suggest follows the length of each project. Start with Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars, since twelve episodes of thirty to forty minutes is a manageable first meeting, and pay attention to how the supporting ensemble around Jed Chung and Chu Meng-hsuan is arranged. Then go back to Uncle, where as Xia Wen Li she takes on a first substantial role across sixty episodes. The contrast between those two formats says more about her range than any single scene could.
Our Honorary Photo Studio is the credit I would save for last, because Gao A Lian is the most unusual part on her list, a century-old household deity. Playing a character like that in a sixty-episode daily drama beside a veteran such as Ko Shu-yuan gives a viewer the chance to watch a younger actor work next to experience. Mudborn, where she plays Hsiao-Chao, is the film credit and the quickest way to see her outside a television series.
Her path into acting is part of why I follow her work. She studied Electronic Engineering at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and left the programme in 2022 to act full time instead of continuing to a graduate degree. Her years of activity begin in 2022, so the two sixty-episode dramas arrived soon after that decision, and I read that quick start as a sign of how committed she was to the change.
Two sixty-episode daily dramas came before her first boys love series in 2026.
Her television list begins with Uncle in 2023 and Our Honorary Photo Studio in 2024, and Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars follows in 2026, a twelve-episode series after two sixty-episode ones.
The chronology is short and dense. In 2023 and 2024 she works in long daily drama formats, then adds the film Mudborn, and in 2026 she appears in a twelve-episode fantasy romance. That is a move from the longest television format to one of the shorter ones in the space of a few years.
In my view, her list shows an actor who learned the work in volume. Sixty episodes is a long schedule for a first substantial role, and the habits it builds, such as turning up prepared day after day, are the kind a short series then rewards. If I were choosing where to start, I would take her earliest television credit and then the 2026 series, to see how far those habits have carried her.
