BIOGRAPHY
Roj Sereeroj Jayaphorn (Thai: โรจน์ เสรีโรจน์ ไชยพร; born August 22, 1985) is a Thai film director, actor and content creator, best known online under the persona Roji Sensei (โรจิเซนเซ). He plays Tanaka in GMMTV’s Cherry Magic (2023 to 2024).
His career began behind the camera. He started as an assistant director on television commercials in 2008 and moved into directing from 2010, building a long run of advertising work. His public service film “Dear Japan from Phuket” took the Grande Lotus Roots award at AdFest 2012. He runs the Bangkok-based production-service company 2Hands Films and has directed commercial work for brands including OPPO and Pepsi.
In 2021 he launched the Roji Sensei channel, a comedy and Japanese-language project in which he performs multiple characters. The channel went viral, and by 2023 his own site reported over 200 million combined views across platforms, with roughly 580,000 TikTok followers and 200,000 on YouTube. He is fluent in Japanese, Thai and English.
In October 2023 GMMTV cast him as Tanaka in Cherry Magic, the twelve-episode adaptation of Yuu Toyota’s manga that ran on GMM25 from December 9, 2023 to March 2, 2024. In 2024 he took the supporting role of Lord Naka in Naka De Salon. His acting credits sit alongside continuing work as a commercial director and independent creator, and his portfolio is published at roj-j.com. He is also credited in visual effects.
The series runs twelve episodes of 45 minutes on GMM 25 and Viu, with Tawan Vihokratana as Karan Wongkarun and Thitipoom Techaapaikhun as Achi in the leads. Tanaka belongs to a supporting cast that also includes Panachai Sriariyarungruang as Jinta, Jiruntanin Trairattanayon as Min, Ployshompoo Supasap as Pai, Harit Cheewagaroon as Rock Banphot, Thanaporn Wagprayoon as Dujdao and Keita Tanaka as Ikeda. The story follows Achi, who discovers he can read minds and starts to hear what his coworker Karan feels. Three songs were released alongside it: “Loudest Love”, “Everything is Magic” and “Voice Within”.

Award-Winning Before He Ever Acted
Long before any acting credit, Roj was behind the camera. He turns up in ten of the twelve episodes as a regular in the supporting crew around Tay Tawan’s Karan and New Thitipoom’s Achi. Bonus: the Japanese manga source suits a man who already works and performs in Japanese. Fun spot for eagle eyes: Keita Tanaka plays Ikeda in the same show, so there is a Tanaka on screen and a Tanaka in the credits.
