Chu Meng-hsuan - Taiwanese actor, played Chen Hao Wei in Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars

Chu Meng-hsuan

BIOGRAPHY

Chu Meng-hsuan (Chinese: 初孟軒; born 1996) is a Taiwanese actor and a graduate of Taipei Municipal University of Education. He made his screen debut in 2017 in the short film Beat Him Up as A-Yang, and worked across commercials, music videos and short-form drama in the years that followed.

In 2018 he played Chou Shao-an in the anthology series HIStory2: Right or Wrong. Two dramas followed, The Magician on the Skywalk (2021) and the courtroom series Port of Lies (2023), in which he played Lien Chin-ping. His other television credits include Women in Taipei (2022) as Anthony, Oh No! Here Comes Trouble (2023) as the young Pu Renxiu, Urban Horror (2024) as A Heng, and A Table for One (Is Great Too) (2025) as Brownie.

His film credits are The Time of Huan Nan (2024) as Chang An-jian, Run with the Noise (2024) as Kai, Cry Me A River (2024), Eerie Hometown (2025), Kiss Me My Ghost Friend (2026) as Ke Jin Shuo, Hold to Death: Hand in Hand (2026) and Suffocation (2026). In 2026 he took the male lead in the Taiwanese BL series Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars, playing Chen Hao-wei across all twelve episodes opposite Jed Chung’s He Xiang-yong, with Max Kuo playing the teenage version of the same character.

Earlier and later credits fill in the picture. He played the young Chin Hao across twenty episodes of Tree in the River (2018), a guest role as Luo Chao-huang across ten episodes of Best Interest Season 3: Ultimate Interest (2023), and Fu Zi-sen in the thirteen episode Love Between Unlove (2024). I Can See You Shine (2024) gave him a supporting part over eight episodes. In Port of Lies he was a lead across eight episodes, and in 2025 he joined a second season of A Table for One (Is Great Too) as a guest across nine episodes. That year he also worked as a host on the iQIYI programme Love Casting, appearing with the Auntie Squad across twelve episodes.

Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars is adapted from a short story, The Correct Way to Watch a Shooting Star (觀看流星的正確方式), published by Chung Min-Jui in 2019.

The series reached the screen seven years later as twelve weekly episodes, broadcast from late March to early June 2026.

Chu Meng-hsuan’s credits fall into two phases. In 2017 and 2018 the work was a short film, commercials, music videos and short-form drama, followed by the anthology role of Chou Shao-an in HIStory2: Right or Wrong. From 2021 the screen time gets longer, running from The Magician on the Skywalk to the courtroom series Port of Lies, where he played Lien Chin-ping. The year 2024 holds three films, The Time of Huan Nan, Run with the Noise and Cry Me A River, beside the series Urban Horror. In 2026 he carries all twelve episodes as Chen Hao-wei, which brings him back to the boys’ love territory of his 2018 role eight years earlier.

In my view the hosting job on Love Casting is the most unexpected line on his list, placed a year before he carries all twelve episodes of a drama lead. Anyone who wants to see him with room to work before 2026 will find it in Port of Lies, his earlier lead.
