About this archive
Idol is a career track of its own, and this small page shows the people who came up through it. Idols are usually recruited and trained by an agency, often for a long time before debut, then presented in a group with a shared image, choreography, release schedule and promotion cycle.
The jump into BL and GL is routine in several markets now. Acting is treated as part of the same contract, since companies that manage groups also place members in dramas, and sometimes a series is partly made to give an artist screen experience. It also works the other way, with actors later releasing music on an affiliated label.
Here you will meet Lim Young-min, Lee Jun-young, Jang Gyu-ri, Hidaka Ukisho and Takuya Kusakawa. My tip: if an idol actor disappears for a while and then pops up in three things at once, that is the calendar at work. Filming tends to cluster in the gaps between album cycles, so check the group schedule before you worry.
