Lim Young-min

Lim Young-min (Korean: 임영민; born 25 December 1995 in Seoul) is a South Korean singer, rapper and actor. He came up through idol music, with a duo, a project group and a full boy group, and in 2026 he turned to acting with a role in the wavve BL series Summertime.

His first wide exposure came in 2017 on Mnet’s survival programme Produce 101 Season 2, where he finished in fifteenth place. In September of that year he debuted with fellow contestant Kim Dong-hyun as the duo MXM, releasing the EP Unmix. The name carries two readings, Mix and Match and More and More, the first about how the pair fit together and the second about their drive to grow. A second EP, Match Up, followed in March 2018, and in August the duo put out its first full length album, More Than Ever, which closed their MIX, MATCH, MORE trilogy. MXM toured nine cities around the world. In 2018 he and Kim Dong-hyun also joined YDPP, a project group formed by Starship and Brand New Music with Jeong Se-woon and Lee Gwang-hyun.

In January 2019 Brand New Music announced a new boy group under the working name Brand New Boys, and the Mnet reality show BRAND NEW BOYS followed the members as they prepared. The group debuted as AB6IX on 22 May 2019 with the EP B:Complete and its lead single Breathe, holding the debut showcase at Olympic Hall. Lim was the group’s leader. On 5 June 2019 AB6IX won its first music show trophy on Show Champion. That year he also appeared with the group on Star Road, AB6IX Dingo: Loyalty Games and Idol Radio, and in 2020 on AB4U. His departure from AB6IX was announced on 8 June 2020.

He completed his military service in May 2022 and returned with his first solo EP, ROOM, released on 29 August 2023. On 26 June 2025 Brand New Music’s sublabel BRANDNEW-A announced that his exclusive contract had ended by mutual agreement.

In Summertime (하절기), adapted from a web novel by I Ro-mil, Kim Do-min and Seong In-ho play Yeo Eun-ho and Cha Do-hyun, neighbours and best friends of nineteen years. Lim plays Kwon I-hyun, the transfer student whose friendship with Eun-ho shakes Do-hyun’s long hidden feelings. The ten episodes aired on wavve in pairs from 28 August to 25 September 2026, and he is credited in all of them. He plays Kwon I-hyun again in Winter Season (동절기), a series adapted from another I Ro-mil web novel, this time at the centre of the story: nine years after a past encounter, I-hyun crosses paths again with a man from his history at a nightclub.
