What happens

Magic Move (Thai: ทำนายทายรัก; RTGS: Thamnai Thai Rak, roughly "Foretelling Love") is a 2026 Thai boys' love romantic comedy, and it starts with a bluff. Ritt (Deam Wutthiphat Rungcharoenareechit) is a final-year architecture student building his thesis around rune stones, and one night at his friend's Magic Move bar he begins reading them for customers half as a joke. The readings land. They keep landing, uncannily so, and within days he has a campus reputation he never meant to build. Among the people that reputation pulls toward him is Itthi (Ball Napatsak Ekphiphatthana), heir to a real-estate fortune, who has spent years quietly searching for the childhood friend he once promised himself to.

Rather than admit that the stones told him nothing, Ritt lets Itthi believe the search is over and steps into the missing boy's shoes. It is meant to be a small lie with a short shelf life. Instead it becomes a relationship, and then it becomes real. The problem is that the actual childhood friend still exists: Suea (Shino Peraphat Dhanarattananont) comes home from a failed bid at Korean stardom, and every fortune Ritt ever told starts turning back on him at once. Circling that triangle are friends and family with their own stakes in how it breaks, Pure (Pitchawat Wisittarakul), Pitcha (Patpong Loymaping), Ployploen (Yaninsinee Chotisuriyaphong), Phum (Sorrawit Kaewprasert) and Noah (Rattaphon Thepmanee), plus the grandparents whose expectations quietly define what Itthi is permitted to want.

Directed by Nob Sathanapong Limwongthong for Moonlight Glow, the ten-episode series aired Tuesdays on One31 from April 21 to June 23, 2026, streaming internationally on iQIYI. The screenplay is original. The register stays deliberately light and a little chaotic, mistaken identity, white lies and rom-com misdirection rather than melodrama, but the rune stones give the show something to argue with. If a prophecy only comes true because someone rearranged their whole life to make it come true, was it ever a prophecy at all? Magic Move keeps circling that question through campus comedy, family money and one increasingly unsustainable lie.

Magic Move runs on a high-energy premise: an architecture student bluffs his way into fame as a rune-stone fortune teller, then deepens the bluff by pretending to be a rich heir's lost childhood love. It is fake-relationship romantic comedy with a fortune-telling twist.

The Cast

Deam Wutthiphat carries the comedy as Ritt, with Ball Napatsak as the earnest heir Itthi. Shino’s Suea, the genuine childhood friend returning from an attempt at Korean stardom, supplies the love-triangle tension.

Design and Fate

Ritt's degree is the series' best joke. He is a final-year architecture student, and architecture is the practice of drawing something that does not yet exist and persuading the world to match it. His thesis subject is rune stones, and the bluff that follows asks him to do the same thing to a person: produce a version of someone who is not there, then fit himself into it. Itthi, for his part, is heir to a real-estate fortune, so one man designs property he does not own while the other owns property he did not design.

The two titles divide the job between them. The English title names the friend's bar where the readings begin, while the Thai title, Thamnai Thai Rak, names the act itself, roughly foretelling love. Ten episodes of about 51 minutes come to a little under nine hours.

What to Expect

  • Light and chaotic: mistaken identity, white lies and rom-com misunderstandings.
  • Fortune-telling gimmick: rune stones frame a fate-versus-choice theme.
  • Love triangle: the returning real childhood friend raises the stakes.

The Verdict

A breezy, concept-driven Thai BL rom-com; Magic Move is best for viewers who enjoy fake-relationship comedies and a lively, chaotic rhythm alongside their romance.

Final Score: 6.5/10

Magic Move puts its central lie inside a bar that shares the show's name.

The friend's bar is where Ritt first reads the rune stones for customers, so the title points at the place where the bluff begins. Everything that follows, from the campus reputation to the borrowed childhood, grows out of that one improvised evening.

Suea's return from an attempt at Korean stardom sets up the second half. Ritt fakes a past that belongs to someone else, and the person it belongs to arrives home.

The series ran ten Tuesdays on One31, from 21 April to 23 June 2026, with iQIYI carrying it abroad.

Themes

Ritt's degree is the joke the series never points at directly. He is a final-year architecture student, and architecture is the discipline of drawing something that does not yet exist and then getting the world to match the drawing. His thesis subject is rune stones. The bluff he falls into at the bar asks him to do the same operation on a person: produce a version of someone who is not there, then make himself fit it. Fortune-telling and building turn out to be the same activity carried out on different materials.

The pairing extends the idea. Itthi is heir to a real-estate fortune, so one man designs property he does not own while the other owns property he did not design. Neither has made the thing his life actually rests on.

The two titles keep that split visible. The English one names a place, the friend's bar where the readings happen. The Thai one, ทำนายทายรัก, names an act. One says where it occurs, the other says what is being done.

How it was made

Moonlight Glow held the production's opening ceremony on 3 July 2025, more than nine months before the first episode reached One31. Wittawat Sangsakit is credited as producer alongside director Nob Sathanapong Limwongthong.

The rollout came in two stages on the studio's own YouTube channel. An official pilot was posted on 17 September 2025, and the full trailer followed on 26 February 2026, roughly eight weeks ahead of the 21 April 2026 broadcast premiere.
