Anata wo Korosu Tabi (Manga)
SYNOPSIS
Ren Odashima is a low-ranking member of a yakuza family, the sort of man nobody looks at twice, which is exactly why he is chosen. His assignment sounds like babysitting: look after Kinji Kataoka, a charismatic young boss who has stirred up enough trouble that the organisation wants him out of sight, and keep him comfortable until the heat dies down. The two set off along the coast at an unhurried pace, stopping wherever the road allows, behaving for all the world like men on holiday. What Kataoka does not know is that the trip was built around a second instruction, handed to Odashima alone: kill him before it ends.
Beneath the calm of the drive runs a current of love and hatred that neither man is equipped to talk about. Odashima keeps his feelings padlocked, rehearsing the moment in his head and finding one reason after another to let it pass, while Kataoka's unforced warmth, the easy way he treats a subordinate as company rather than staff, keeps working at the edges of a resolve that was never as solid as Odashima told himself it was. The age gap between them sharpens the imbalance, one man accustomed to being obeyed and the other to being overlooked, and the story lets the pressure build slowly rather than snapping it: every quiet seaside stop is another day the order has gone uncarried out, and another day it becomes harder to picture carrying out at all.
Anata wo Korosu Tabi is a Japanese yakuza-themed boys' love manga written and illustrated by Asai Sai. It was first serialized in the digital magazine Kachi Comi and collected into a single tankobon volume by Akita Shoten on February 14, 2020. In 2025 the publisher Tokuma Shoten reissued the story as a new two-volume edition under its Chara Comics label, with volume one arriving on February 25, 2025 and volume two on September 25, 2025, each adding newly drawn bonus art ahead of the live-action adaptation. Readers know it for the contrast it sustains from beginning to end: an atmospheric coastal setting, unhurried and almost gentle, wrapped around a crime story that could turn at any moment. It is the source work behind the 2025 Japanese live-action drama The Journey to Killing You, which premiered on September 26, 2025 on Fuji TV and FOD starring Masanari Wada, Hiroto Takahashi and Shintaro Yuya, and the completed manga can be read in Japanese through licensed e-book stores such as cmoa.
