The Journey to Killing You
SYNOPSIS
Kinji Kataoka (Masanari Wada) is a young yakuza boss whose men would follow him anywhere, less out of fear than because he is the rare figure in that world who still treats loyalty as an obligation running both ways. After a violent incident turns him into a liability, he is pulled off the board and ordered into hiding by Keito Kirii (Shintaro Yuya), the family head's son, and given a driver and handler for the road: Ren Odashima (Hiroto Takahashi), a quiet, watchful subordinate who says almost nothing and misses nothing. What Kataoka does not know is that Odashima walked out of the same room with a second, unwritten instruction, to kill him.
Odashima has been waiting seven years for an opening like this. The grudge he carries predates the assignment and gives him every reason to finish it, and the journey is built to hand him chances: long drives, borrowed safe houses, sleepless nights, a man who sleeps with his back turned because he assumes he is safe. What complicates the plan is proximity itself. Living at close quarters with the person he intends to kill, Odashima keeps running into a Kataoka who does not match the one in his memory, and the cold arrangement between them starts turning into something he cannot name without surrendering the reason he came. Around them, Kaiho Asahi (Kaito Hori), Genichiro Kumakura (Keisuke Teranaka) and Eiji Ichinose (Toi Nakabayashi) keep the organisation's pressure closing in behind the road.
The Journey to Killing You (Japanese: あなたを殺す旅, Anata wo Korosu Tabi) is a 2025 Japanese boys' love crime romance adapted from the manga of the same name by Asai Sai. Directed by Daisuke Kamijo and produced by anrico and Culture Entertainment for Fuji Television, the six-episode series aired on Fuji TV and FOD from September 26 to October 24, 2025, with episodes running roughly 26 to 28 minutes. The compressed running time suits the material: this is a chamber piece wearing a yakuza drama's coat, far more interested in two men in a car than in the family's politics, keeping its violence short and its silences long. Loyalty, betrayal, inherited damage and a love that cannot be spoken without costing someone everything are all in play, and the series never quietly retires the standing order, it only postpones it, which is what gives every stop on the journey its weight.
