BIOGRAPHY

X Nuttapong Mongkolsawas (Thai: เอ็กซ์ ณัฐพงษ์ มงคลสวัสดิ์) is a Thai television director, screenwriter and producer at GMMTV, where he holds the post of senior director of content production. He directed Cherry Magic (2023), the Thai adaptation of Yuu Toyota’s Boys’ Love manga, and has since directed Me and Thee (2025) and Peach and Me (2026).

He graduated from the Department of Dramatic Arts in the Faculty of Arts at Chulalongkorn University and began at GMMTV not as a director but as a television programme creative, crossing into drama from the company’s format and variety side.

His first dated credits are the short-form web series GMMTV was producing in 2013, on which he served as both writer and director: Change and Love Me Louder, followed in 2014 by Never Again and the campus anthology Room Alone. Wifi Society: Gray Secret (2015) and Senior Secret Love (2016) came next, and by 2017 he was directing full-length GMMTV series with Secret Seven.

The directing run that made his name begins with Wolf and Theory of Love (2019), continues through I’m Tee, Me Too (2020), Vice Versa (2022) and the crossover anthology Our Skyy 2 (2023), and reaches Cherry Magic in the same year. Cherry Magic aired on GMM 25 from 9 December 2023 to 2 March 2024 with Tay Tawan Vihokratana and New Thitipoom Techaapaikhun in the leads. He also directed the standalone special Theory of Love: Stand By Me (2020).

Since the late 2010s the larger part of his work has been production rather than direction. He took executive-producer credits on School Rangers and The Gifted (2018), Tonhon Chonlatee (2020) and A Tale of Thousand Stars (2021), and has since produced dozens of GMMTV titles, among them Not Me and F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers (2021), Enchanté (2022), Cooking Crush (2023), The Trainee, We Are and Perfect 10 Liners (2024), Head 2 Head and Burnout Syndrome (2025), and WU and When Oranges Fall (2026). He is credited in Thai as เอ็กซ์ and appears in older records under the romanisations Eks and Natthaphong Mongkhonsawat.

X Nuttapong directed the Thai Cherry Magic from a script by a three-person writing team.

The 2023 series was written by Manow Waneepan Ounphoklang, Mook Jarinee Thanomyat and PingPong Suwanun Pohgudsai, with Ako Supaporn Lertthitiverakarn producing.

It runs twelve episodes, the same length as the Japanese drama.
