Girls Love has a smaller page than BL, but oh, what a page. GL is concentrated heavily in Thailand, where a whole cluster of series arrived together and brought their books with them: GAP, Pluto, 23.5, The Secret of Us, Petrichor and Moon Shadow each exist as a drama and as the novel behind it.
Beyond Thailand, GL reaches into Korea with Friendly Rivalry, Taiwan with Fragrance of the First Flower, Japan with How Do We Relationship? and the Philippines with Balaraw: Blood Island. The range of moods is wide: workplace comedy, school romance, a crime thriller, a royal court melodrama and a science fiction story with time travel. And a good number of these shows are free on YouTube.
Newer Thai titles like Third Person, Juliet & Juliet, Pls.Love, Love Bound, Fairway of Love and Buy My Boss keep the wave going. My tip for GL newcomers: 23.5 first for a sweet first love, then GAP for warmth and Pluto for heartache. After that, there is no going back, I promise.
