23.5 the Series
SYNOPSIS
Adapted from By Blue's Thai novel of the same name, 23.5 the Series, released internationally under its full title, 23.5 When the Earth Is Spinning Around, is a 2024 school-set romance and GMMTV's first Girls' Love production. Ongsa (Pansa Vosbein) is a quiet, self-conscious transfer student who cannot find a way into the social life of her new school and settles instead for watching it from the edges. Sun (Pattranite Limpatiyakorn) is the classmate everyone gravitates toward: bright, easy with people, and entirely unaware that she is being watched. When Ongsa finally works up the courage to reach out, she does it from behind an anonymous Instagram account under the name "Earth," and the conversation that follows becomes the first real connection she has made in months.
Because the account gives away nothing, Sun assumes Earth is a boy, and Ongsa, afraid of losing the one person who talks to her without pity, lets the assumption stand. What begins as a small omission hardens into a secret she has to maintain daily, especially as the two girls start circling each other in the corridors and classrooms of school life, where Sun has no idea that the friend on her phone is sitting a few desks away. Around them, the series follows a second thread in Aylin (Benyapa Jeenprasom) and Luna (Wanwimol Jaenasavamethee), whose shared history complicates the group's dynamic, while classmates and family keep pulling Ongsa toward the honesty she keeps postponing. The question is never whether the truth will surface, but what will be left of the friendship when it does.
23.5 the Series works in a deliberately low-key register. It trades melodrama for the ordinary terrors of adolescence: the fear of being seen, the risk of being the first to say something true, and the creeping suspicion that being liked as someone else is not the same as being liked. The twelve-episode run aired weekly on GMM25 in Thailand between March and May 2024, and its reception gave GMMTV the template for the Girls' Love slate that followed, from the gentle slice-of-life school setting to the slow-burn identity arc at its centre. It also launched MilkLove, the on-screen pairing of Vosbein and Limpatiyakorn, who went on to headline several further GMMTV projects together on the strength of what they build here.
