Suchada Poonpattanasuk

Suchada Poonpattanasuk (Thai: สุชาดา พูนพัฒนสุข), known by the nickname Hong (หงส์) and also romanised Suchada Phunphatnasuk, is a Thai actor from Bangkok. She has worked in Thai film and television since at least 2007, and within this vertical she occupies a very specific and unusually important position: she is one of the actors Thai BL and GL productions turn to when they need a mother.

Her earliest verified credit is Bpee Kaew Nang Hong (2007, 17 episodes) as Sunee. She appeared in the horror anthology Phobia 2 (2009) in the Salvage segment and as the Prime Minister’s wife in the disaster film 2022 Tsunami (2009), then in Last Summer (2013), Deleted (2013) and ThirTEEN Terrors (2014).

Long-form television has carried most of her work since. She played Lamom across twenty-six episodes of Dok Mai Lai Pad Klon (2015), Malai Kriengkrai across twenty-eight episodes of Kom Faek (2018), the title-adjacent role of Suchada across forty-four episodes of Morlam Bodyguard (2022), Tian’s mother across thirty-two episodes of A Tale of Ylang Ylang (2022) and Phimphan across twenty episodes of Doctor Detective (2023). She also appeared in The Promise (2017), Message in a Bottle (2019), Waning Moon (2020), Bad Boyz Band (2023) and Rearrange (2025).

Inside this site’s catalogue she turns up repeatedly and always in the same structural position. She is Charn’s mother in Laws of Attraction (2023), Sunitra in Home School (2023), and Ongsa’s mother across all twelve episodes of 23.5 (2024). She also appears in You Are My Missing Piece (2022).

Whatever else a series is doing, there is usually one scene it is quietly building toward: a parent finds out, and the story turns on whether she can hold the relationship and her child at the same time. Get that scene wrong and the whole run deflates, no matter how good the leads were. So it matters a great deal who is cast, and Thai productions have effectively developed a small bench of actors who can carry it. She is on that bench. She played Charn’s mother in Laws of Attraction and Ongsa’s mother in 23.5 within a year of each other, on opposite sides of the BL and GL line.
