About this archive
Studio Wabi Sabi Company Limited is a Thai production house registered in Bangkok under the business activity of television programme production, and listed in Thailand’s national content industry directory as a film production company with offices in the RCA area of Huai Khwang.
It was founded by the director and producer Siwaj Sawatmaneekul, known professionally as New, who still heads it. He has said the studio was set up around the making of its first official project, the series Dai Daeng, released in English as The Red Thread, and that it started with three employees. As the company grew he moved from directing everything himself to producing while other directors take the floor, which is why the director credit on the records below is not always the same name.
He has also described the studio as working something like a school for performers, bringing people in early and developing them across several productions rather than casting each series from nothing. On this site that shows up as the same faces returning through the studio’s records in different parts, sometimes as a lead, sometimes further down the call sheet. The company works in series rather than feature film, and each record below carries its own platform and episode detail.
