Lin He-hsuan

Lin He-hsuan (Chinese: 林鶴軒; born 7 January 1991), billed on most Taiwanese productions under the stage name Da He (大鶴) and listed in English-language databases as Da-her Lin, is a Taiwanese screen and stage actor. He graduated from the Department of Drama at National Taiwan University of Arts, the school that has supplied a large share of Taiwan’s working theatre and television performers for decades.

His earliest verified screen credit is the 2013 comedy Campus Confidential. Two years later he appeared in Our Times (2015), the coming-of-age film that became one of the highest-grossing Taiwanese releases of its year, where he was credited simply as Da He. Through the second half of the 2010s he built a career on the dense supporting work that Taiwanese production runs on: Lion Pride (2017, 25 episodes), Secrets in the Hot Spring (2018), Big Three Dragons (2019) and A-Hu (2019).

For readers of this site the relevant entry point is HIStory (2017), the Taiwanese anthology that did more than any other single production to put Mandarin-language BL in front of an international audience. Lin appeared as Bai Chang-chang across four episodes. Later in the same decade he took the role of Chen Si-yuan in Someday or One Day (2019), the time-loop romance that became one of the most widely exported Taiwanese dramas of its decade.

He has since become a recurring face in Taiwan’s supernatural comedy wave, appearing in Get the Hell Out (2020), The Soul (2021), Marry My Dead Body (2023) and Dead Talents Society (2024), alongside straight dramatic work in Love On a Shoestring (2024, 24 episodes), The Cleaner (2024) and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (2025). His 2026 slate is the busiest of his career to date, with three series in circulation: Kung Fu, Agent from Above (8 episodes) and Connecting to You, in which he plays Jiang Chaonan across 13 episodes.

Acting is not the whole of his working life. His Chinese-language Wikipedia entry catalogues stage performances and stage directing credits, short films, music videos and released singles alongside the screen work, and lists television hosting that includes the variety programmes 《大學生了沒》 and 《嗨！營業中》 season 2, as well as award ceremony hosting.

BLGLFlix editorial view. Lin is a useful case study in how Taiwan’s BL wave actually worked. He has never been a BL lead and has never been marketed as half of a pair, yet he turns up in HIStory in 2017 and again in Connecting to You nine years later. Taiwan never built the dedicated couple-star system that Thailand did. It fed its BL productions from the same general pool of jobbing television actors it uses for everything else, which is why a Taiwanese BL cast list so often reads like a horror-comedy cast list, and why performers like Lin move between the two without any repositioning. Our own read is that this is a structural strength rather than a lack of commitment: it keeps Taiwanese BL casts deeper and more experienced than the genre average, and it is a large part of why the country’s output has aged better than its modest episode counts would suggest.
