Nok Sinjai Plengpanich
BIOGRAPHY
Sinjai Plengpanich (Thai: สินจัย เปล่งพานิช; born January 21, 1965), known by her nickname Nok, is a veteran Thai actor, model, and singer with a screen career spanning more than four decades.
She entered the entertainment industry as a model before moving into acting, debuting on screen in 1982 with Sai Sawat Yang Mai Sin and quickly becoming one of Thailand’s most prolific leading ladies through the 1980s, with roles across dozens of lakorns and films including Hong Fah, Nuanchawee (1985), and Krung Diew Kor Kern Por (1988).
Sinjai’s film work has ranged from historical epics to landmark arthouse drama. She played Lady Srichulalak in the historical epic The Legend of Suriyothai (2001), and starred as Sunee in The Love of Siam (2007), a milestone of Thai queer cinema. Her television performance in E-Sa-Rawee Chuangchoti earned her the Kom Chad Luek Award for Best Supporting Actress in Television.
In more recent years she has continued to work steadily across television, appearing in The Stranded and Until We Meet Again (2019), Game of Outlaws (2021), Dhevaprom (2024) as Piangkwan “Kwan” Juthathep Na Ayutthaya, and Shine (2025). In 2026 she appears as Bussaya in Ticket to Heaven, rounding out the drama’s adult cast.
Off-screen, Sinjai is married to fellow actor Chatchai Plengpanich, with whom she shares the nickname “Nok”; the couple have three children together.
BLGLFlix editorial view
She was in a landmark of Thai queer cinema seven years before Thai boys love became a commercial category.
Sinjai Plengpanich, known as Nok, born 21 January 1965 in Bangkok, plays Bussaya in Ticket to Heaven in 2026. She debuted in 1982 and played Sunee in The Love of Siam in 2007.
That 2007 film matters to the history this site covers even though it is not a boys love production and has no record here. It reached a mainstream Thai audience with a story that was not marketed as a genre, it was a commercial and critical success, and a great deal of what followed had an easier time because it existed. The actor who played the mother in it is now in the supporting cast of a 2026 boys love series.
Her career is also a reminder of who these casts are built on. A series led by performers in their twenties needs somebody to play the parents, and the people doing that job have four decades of lakorn and film behind them, usually with far longer records than anybody billed above them.
Her birth date, birthplace, a dated 1982 debut, her maiden name and an award are documented. No agency and no account are recorded, because nothing citable names either.
