Woo Hyo-won
BIOGRAPHY
Woo Hyo-won (Korean: 우효원; born May 3, 1994) is a South Korean actor who works across independent film, web drama, and the Seoul stage. Boys’ love audiences know him as Min-woo in Love Class 2 (2023), the second season of the KT Alpha web-drama franchise.
Woo studied theatre at Kookmin University, graduating from the School of Performing Arts in the College of Arts, and entered the industry from a university stage background rather than an agency trainee track. His screen debut came in 2021 with the independent feature Mara (말아), released internationally as Rolling, in which he played the lead role of Lee Won. The same year he appeared in the Wavve web drama You Raise Me Up.
He followed with the KokTV web series Bad Girlfriend (2022) and two 2023 web dramas: Playlist’s He’s Definitely a Northerner (걘 역시 북방계), in which he played Park Jae-beom, and Love Class 2, in which he played Min-woo. In 2024 he returned to feature film in a supporting role as Jin-rae in Neulbom Garden (늘봄가든). Alongside screen work he has continued in theatre, appearing as Farewell in the play The Joy of Breaking Up (헤어지는 기쁨) in repeat runs from 2024 onward, and he has fronted commercial campaigns for Willa, Tada, LG Z:IN, KakaoPay, Outback and Volkswagen. Korean records also list Park Hyo-won (박효원) as an earlier professional name.
BLGLFlix editorial view
His training was a university theatre department, not a company trainee contract.
Woo Hyo-won, born 3 May 1994 in Seoul, plays Min-woo in Love Class Season 2. He studied theatre at Kookmin University and made his screen debut in 2021 in an independent feature.
Korean screen careers usually start inside an agency, with a trainee contract signed young and a company deciding what somebody will be. His did not. A theatre degree, an independent film lead, web dramas, and a stage role he has returned to in repeat runs since 2024 is a different kind of record, assembled job by job rather than planned by a management team.
Commercial work is what makes it viable. He has fronted campaigns for banks, furniture, food and cars, and in a market where independent film and theatre pay very little, that is not a sideline, it is the income that lets the rest of the record exist.
Korean sources also list an earlier professional name, and both are recorded here so that the earlier credits stay attached to the person who earned them.
His birth date, birthplace, education, a dated 2021 debut, both names and an encyclopedia entry are documented. No agency is listed, because nothing citable names one.
