YU is a singer, songwriter and actor who works in both Taiwan and Japan. He was born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, to a Japanese father and a Taiwanese mother, and moved to Taiwan for university, studying food and beverage management at Shih Chien University and later enrolling in a graduate programme in public relations and advertising at Shih Hsin University. He was scouted at a campus fashion show and signed as a trainee in 2018. He debuted as a musician in August 2020 with the EP titled Wo De Ye Wu Suo Shi Shi, which included the tracks Follow and Shui Lan Se Qing Ren. In January 2021 he made his acting debut as Zhou Shu Yi in the boys love series We Best Love: No. 1 For You and its sequel We Best Love: Fighting Mr. 2nd, and he reprised the role in a 2023 film version. He signed with the Japanese agency Amuse in August 2021 and has since appeared in Japanese television dramas including Patient Chart Prayer, Malice and GEEKS: Weirdos on the Case.
