Unexpectedly Naughty Fukami (Anime)
SYNOPSIS
Unexpectedly Naughty Fukami (やたらやらしい深見くん, Yatara Yarashii Fukami-kun) opens inside the private scoring system of a man who believes he has everyone figured out. Kaji Akihiro (Chasuke) is the sales department's ace, admired for his looks and his effortless charm, and quietly rating every colleague on a numerical attractiveness scale that almost nobody clears. Yu Fukami (Marshmallow Yakitaro), the outwardly plain colleague from the IT department, does not register on that scale at all. Kaji has walked past him for months without forming a single opinion worth keeping.
An overnight business trip puts the two of them in the same place after hours, and the version of Fukami who emerges there has nothing to do with the one Kaji has been ignoring. The encounter dismantles Kaji's assumptions about his colleague and, far more uncomfortably, about himself. What starts as physical curiosity hardens into a stubborn, slow-burning attachment between a self-absorbed narcissist and a deceptively striking otaku who is in no hurry to explain himself. The six-minute format keeps that pivot, from cynical office comedy to something genuinely exposed, running through nearly every episode, so the tonal swing works as the series' engine rather than its punchline. With only eight instalments there is little room for anyone else: coworkers exist mostly as the silent audience for Kaji's ratings and as the reason neither man can say plainly at work what is now obvious after hours.
Studio Hōkiboshi produced the anime for AnimeFesta, adapting Ayaka Matsumoto's ongoing manga, serialized on ComicFesta under the Screamo label since December 2022 and collected into four volumes by Suiseisha. Akane Ozora directed, with series composition by Eeyo Kurosaki and character designs by Rena Nasu, and both leads are credited under pseudonyms, as is common in Japanese BL anime voice casting. The eight episodes aired from March 14 to June 9, 2025 in two forms: the AnimeFesta exclusive carries the streaming edition, which runs longer than the broadcast version, while Tokyo MX and BS11 broadcast a standard, broadcast-safe cut that is also available on U-NEXT and Apple TV+. An English simuldub from Ascendent Animation premiered via OceanVeil on April 6, 2025, the same week as the Japanese run. Arriving a full year before the 2026 live-action drama drawn from the same manga, this is the franchise's first screen version and its most compressed, built as a fast introduction rather than a replacement for the source.
