Cherry Magic! (Movie)
SYNOPSIS
Cherry Magic! The Movie (Japanese: チェリまほ THE MOVIE ~30歳まで童貞だと魔法使いになれるらしい~) is a 2022 Japanese boys' love (BL) romantic comedy film, the live-action sequel to the 2020 drama and an adaptation of Yuu Toyota's (豊田悠) manga. Directed by Taiki Kazama and written by Riko Sakaguchi, it opened in Japanese theatres on April 8, 2022, running about 104 minutes and distributed by Asmik Ace.
Eiji Akaso and Keita Machida reprise their roles as Kiyoshi Adachi and Yuichi Kurosawa, the secretly dating office couple. With Adachi still able to read minds, the film picks up their happy relationship just as Adachi receives a job-transfer offer to Nagasaki, some 1,200 km away.
Torn between a career he wants and the man he loves, Adachi must weigh distance, doubt, and the future of their quiet relationship, as the couple faces its first real test of long-distance love and begins to think seriously about a life together. Returning cast members include Kodai Asaka, Yutaro, Takuya Kusakawa, Rei Sato, and Suzunosuke, with new additions such as Satoru Matsuo and the two leads' on-screen parents.
A warm, crowd-pleasing finale to the live-action story, the film earned over 400 million yen at the Japanese box office and expanded the franchise's reach across Asia. It can be streamed legally through U-NEXT and Netflix.
