Woodie Pongchaiphat Sethanand

Woodie Pongchaiphat Sethanand (Thai: วู้ดดี้ พงษ์ชัยพัฒน์ เศรษฐนันท์) is a Thai cinematographer, director and producer. He directed all ten episodes of the 2026 revenge thriller Payback, and comes to it from behind the camera rather than from the writers’ room: his primary department in the credit records is still listed as Camera, not Directing.

He trained abroad. The database biography records that he graduated from the American Film Institute majoring in Cinematography, and that he worked on productions outside Asia, listing an assistant director credit on Invincible Scripture and production assistance on Resident Evil 5. A second database carries the same AFI detail independently. That combination, an American conservatory training in camera work followed by a career in Thai television, is unusual among Thai BL directors.

His documented career begins in 2014, and in both disciplines at once: he shot Until Now as director of photography and directed the film The Couple in the same year. He then directed the long-running series 7 Days Series (also credited as 7 Wun Jorng Wen) across thirty-seven episodes from 2015, and its second season in 2017.

The 2020s have kept him working mostly as a cinematographer inside the Thai BL industry. He shot Cooking Crush (2023), The Box (2023) across ten episodes, After Sundown (2023), Happiness (2025) across twelve episodes, Whale Store xoxo (2025) across ten, and Goddess Bless You from Death (2025). He also produced Sunset x Vibes (2024) across twelve episodes, giving him credits in three separate departments.

His return to directing came with Reclaim (2025), a twelve-episode series, immediately before Payback. One of Payback’s cast had worked with him before: Gandhi Wasuvitchayagit appeared in Whale Store xoxo, which he shot. The databases also carry the romanisation Pongchaiphat Setthanan and the Thai spellings วูดดี้ and วู๊ดดี้. No birth date, birthplace or agency has been published for him, and BLGLFLIX leaves those fields blank rather than estimate them.
