Love Class: All Three Seasons Explained (Cast, Episodes, Where to Watch)

Three seasons, twenty-one actors, no shared cast, and one franchise that moved from a campus classroom to the K-pop industry

Ten episodes at 26 minutes split three ways gives about 87 minutes per couple, less than season 1 gave its single pairing. That is what accounts for season 2 giving each couple less screen time across a longer total runtime.

Love Class is a Korean BL anthology with three seasons and no shared cast. Season 1 arrived in 2022 with six episodes, Love Class 2 followed in 2023 with ten, and Love Class 3 landed in 2026 with sixteen. Each tells a new story with new characters, so you can start anywhere.

Do you need to watch Love Class in order?

No. This is the single most useful thing to know about the franchise, and it is the thing most listings bury. The three seasons share a title, a production lineage and a general interest in young men working out their feelings under institutional pressure. They do not share characters. Season 2 does not continue season 1, and season 3 leaves the campus entirely for the K-pop industry.

Watch in release order if you want to see how a small web series grew into what is reported to be the first Korean BL franchise to reach a third season. Watch whichever premise appeals otherwise. For where this franchise sits against the rest of the Korean shelf, including how Korean BL differs from Thai BL and which platforms carry what, see the Korean BL dramas list.

Two production companies are behind those three rows. Studio Yanggwibi made the first two seasons. Box Media took over for the third, which is part of why season 3 looks and moves differently from the two before it.

Cast of Love Class

Twenty-one credited performers appear across the three seasons, and not one of them appears in more than one. That is the defining fact of this franchise. The table below gives every credited name with their character and the season they belong to.

One pattern runs through the table. Seasons 2 and 3 both cast working idol-group members in lead roles: Jeon Min-wook performs as J-Min with BAE173, Sae Byeol is a member of WAKER, and Lee Woo-jin is a member of GHOST9. In season 3 that casting stops being incidental, because the season is about the industry those three actually work in.

Love Class (2022): the six-episode original

The first season, Korean title 수업중입니다, is short-form campus BL built on a single hook: a university course pairs students off and sends them on assigned dates as a series of romance experiments. The assignment puts two male students together, and what starts as coursework does not stay coursework.

Han Hyun-jun plays Cha Ji-woo, a soft-spoken Mass Communication sophomore, and Kim Tae-hwan plays Lee Ro-a, an upperclassman just back from military service. The gap between them, in age and in confidence, is what the season runs on. Around them sit Bae Yu-na, Kim Nam-jun, Kim Hye-won, Min-jae and Professor Lim, the academic whose course sets the whole thing in motion.

Lee Seong-taek directed, from a script by Kim Kyung-hwan. At six episodes of roughly 21 minutes, the whole thing runs about two hours, which is shorter than most feature films, and all of that time goes to a single pairing.

Love Class 2 (2023): three couples, ten episodes

Love Class season 2 keeps the university and the general format but abandons the single-pairing structure. It follows three intersecting freshman romances across ten episodes that aired between August 11 and September 8, 2023.

Jeon Min-wook, who performs as J-Min with the group BAE173, plays Lee Hyun, chasing a former tutor who once vanished on him without explanation. Kim Yong-seok plays that tutor, Kim An, and their thread carries the season’s only real mystery element.

The other two pairings in Love Class 2

The remaining four credited leads are what most listings leave out. Lee Gwang-hee plays Ma Roo, the object of his own friend’s quiet, unreturned crush, and Woo Hyo-won plays Min-woo, the friend doing the quiet crushing. Ahn Jeong-gyun plays Yoo Ju-hyuk, a returning student whose casual fling turns out to be his new class’s teaching assistant, and Jung Woo-jae plays Seong-min, that teaching assistant. Lee Ji-hae appears in a guest capacity.

Jang Yeong-seon directed and co-wrote with Kim Kyung-hwan. Ten episodes at around 26 minutes gives the season roughly 260 minutes, double season 1’s runtime, but split three ways it works out to about 87 minutes per couple, which is less than season 1 gave its single pairing. That arithmetic is what accounts for the per-couple figure falling while the season total rose.

Love Class 3 (2026): the K-pop season

Love Class season 3 is the one that changes the franchise. It drops the dating-class framing, drops the campus, and moves into the idol industry, where the obstacle is not a professor’s assignment but a contract, a fanbase and a debut that can be taken away.

It premiered on May 28, 2026, released twice weekly on Thursdays and Fridays, and finished on July 17, 2026 after sixteen episodes of roughly fifteen minutes each. Box Media produced, and the rollout covered more than 190 countries. That two drops a week rhythm is one of the patterns counted in the study of how ninety BL titles actually release.

What Love Class 3 is about

Hyun-jae and Soo-an met as competitors on an idol survival show. Only one of them debuted, and the separation that followed is the wound the season keeps pressing on. The second thread pairs Jae-min, working through the aftermath of a scandal, with Khun, who has arrived in a country and an industry that were not built for him. Around them stand Choi Ha-jun, Ricky and Lee Do-yoon.

Both season 3 leads are working idol-group members: Sae Byeol is in WAKER and Lee Woo-jin is in GHOST9, and the season is set in the industry they work in.

How the franchise changed shape

Run the numbers across all three seasons and a pattern shows up that no individual season page makes visible.

Runtime arithmetic across the Love Class franchise: episode counts, per-episode length, total season runtime and number of couples.
SeasonEpisodesPer episodeSeason totalCouples
Love Class621 minabout 126 min1
Love Class 21026 minabout 260 min3
Love Class 31615 minabout 240 min2

Episode count nearly tripled from season 1 to season 3, but episode length dropped by almost a third, so total season runtime peaked in 2023 and then held roughly flat. What changed was the release rhythm. Season 3 is twice-weekly fifteen-minute drops, which is a vertical-video-era release pattern rather than a television one, and it explains why the season can carry sixteen entries without being any longer than the ten-episode one before it. Across all three seasons the franchise runs about 626 minutes, or ten and a half hours.

Where to watch Love Class legally

All three seasons are on Rakuten Viki, which is the only platform that carries the complete franchise internationally. Season 1 is also on Netflix.

Love Class 2 streams on GagaOOLala and, for viewers in Korea, on TVING, with WATCHA and Wavve also carrying it domestically. Love Class 3 is on Viki and GagaOOLala, plus ABEMA, Wavve, WATCHA, Viu and Channel K depending on region.

Which Love Class season should you watch?

Watch Love Class 3 first if you want the most recent season. It is the only one set outside a university, and the only one where what separates the couple is a contract and a debut rather than a course. Sixteen fifteen-minute episodes make it the shortest per sitting.

Watch season 1 if you want the two-hour version, or to see what Korean BL looked like in 2022. Watch Love Class 2 for ensemble campus BL: three romances share its 260 minutes, about 87 minutes each.

What none of the three does is require the others. That is unusual for a franchise on its third season, and it is the reason the title keeps returning: each season is a fresh pitch rather than a continuation someone has to catch up on.

Why the seasons share a name but nothing else

The franchise works the way a magazine masthead works rather than the way a serial does. “Love Class” names a format, not a story: young men, an institution that decides who spends time with whom, and feelings that were not on the syllabus. Season 1 makes the institution a literal course. Season 2 makes it the wider machinery of freshman year, with part-time jobs, club schedules and tutoring arrangements doing the pairing. Season 3 makes it an entertainment agency, which is the same idea with a contract attached.

Two names carry across the seasons. Kim Kyung-hwan wrote season 1 and co-wrote season 2. Jang Yeong-seon directed and co-wrote season 2. Studio Yanggwibi produced the first two before Box Media took over for the third. That is enough continuity to explain the family resemblance and not nearly enough to require a watch order.

The practical benefit for a viewer is that nothing is spoiled by starting late. The practical cost is that none of the couples gets a second season, so if a pairing works for you, what you have is what there is. Season 1’s Ji-woo and Ro-a do not come back. Neither do season 2’s three couples. Whether that is a feature depends on how you feel about endings.

What Love Class is, in 2026

All three seasons are short-form web drama rather than broadcast productions, which shows in the production scale: few locations, small casts, and scenes built around two people in a room. Seasons 1 and 2 are the shortest, at about 126 and 260 minutes, and they are where the franchise’s 2022 and 2023 form is recorded.

Season 3 moves the setting into the idol industry, so the obstacle is a contract, a fanbase and a debut rather than a university course, and both leads are working idol-group members. It is also the season with the widest distribution, across more than 190 countries.
