Oh Woo-ri
BIOGRAPHY
Oh Woo-ri (Korean: 오우리; born August 1996) is a South Korean actor and film director. She graduated from Soongsil University with a major in Film Arts. She has two credits in Korean girls’ love: Sim Da-ae in The Dream Songs (너와 나, 2023) and Choi Gyeong in Friendly Rivalry (선의의 경쟁, 2025).
Her career began in Korean independent film. Between 2017 and 2020 she appeared in independent shorts and features, including Young People in Korea: Convenience Store (2017), Alleyway (2017), Kim Hee-sun (2018), Woori (2018), Bench Time (2019), Jazzy Misfits (2020) and Family Photo (2020). She continued with We Came From the Hill (2022), Closed World and Its Friends (2022), Extreme Festival (2023), Hail to Hell (2023), Eunwoo (2023) and others.
Her performance as Na-mi in Hail to Hell earned her the Creative Artist Award at the 11th Muju Film Festival. In 2023 she played Sim Da-ae in The Dream Songs, a film set in the shadow of the Sewol ferry disaster. The same year she moved into television drama with One Day Off (Wavve) and Welcome to Samdal-ri (JTBC), where she played the young Bu Mi-ja.
Welcome to Samdal-ri is a sixteen episode JTBC drama that aired from 2 December 2023 to 21 January 2024. Kwon Hye-joo wrote it and Cha Young-hoon directed it, with Ji Chang-wook and Shin Hye-sun as two childhood friends who meet again on Jeju Island after years apart. Its finale reached a nationwide viewing share of 12.399 percent, and Oh Woo-ri plays the younger version of Bu Mi-ja.
Her television work since includes A Killer Paradox (Netflix, 2024) as Mi-young, No Way Out: The Roulette (2024), Friendly Rivalry (2025) as Choi Gyeong, Way Back Love (TVING, 2025) as Yoon Tae-kyung, Tangeum (Netflix, 2025), S Line (Wavve, 2025) as Lee Kyung-jin, A Hundred Memories (JTBC, 2025) as Cha Ok-hee and Love: Track (KBS2, 2025) as Kang Sae-ra. When I Sleep (2025) and GOKDU (2026) follow.
A Killer Paradox reached Netflix on 9 February 2024 with all eight episodes at once. Lee Chang-hee directed, Kim Da-min wrote the scripts, and Choi Woo-shik and Son Suk-ku led the cast as a convenience store worker and the detective who pursues him. S Line came to Wavve on 11 July 2025 and ran for six episodes until 25 July, written and directed by Ahn Joo-young, with Lee Soo-hyuk, Arin and Lee Da-hee in the main roles. Both series adapt Naver webtoons by the artist Kkomabi.
She also directs. In 2020 she wrote, directed and edited the short To Hayeon, and directed and edited Can’t Stop! the same year.
Oh Woo-ri came to Korean television from independent film and from her own directing.
Her first credits date from 2017, six years before Welcome to Samdal-ri and One Day Off brought her to television. Friendly Rivalry in 2025 is her second girls’ love credit after The Dream Songs.
The year 2025 is the densest on her list. Friendly Rivalry, Way Back Love, Tangeum, S Line, A Hundred Memories, Love: Track and When I Sleep make seven credits, spread over five outlets. The two girls’ love titles reach her in different forms, a film in 2023 and a series in 2025. In both she has a named part. Her directing belongs to a separate stretch, because in 2020 two short films of her own came out in the same year as her acting credits Jazzy Misfits and Family Photo.
In my view, what stayed with me is how the two halves of her work inform each other. A graduate of a film arts program who writes, directs and edits her own shorts arrives on a set knowing what the camera needs, and I read that in how she is placed in ensemble casts. For a first look I would start with Friendly Rivalry, since it is the credit closest to girls’ love, and then go back to The Dream Songs to see her at the centre of a story.
