What happens

Wan (Save Worapong Walor) is a devoted fanboy and freelance photographer who is working toward a university degree in public relations. At a fan event he wanders into a restricted area by accident and is caught by Third (Auau Thanaphum Sestasittikul), an actor with a sharp tongue and a confident manner. An audition follows, and Wan is unexpectedly cast in a supporting role in The Deep Between Us, a series within the series.

The same production stars Nine (James Supamongkon Wongwisut), an emerging actor whom Wan has long admired. Wan takes the job out of financial necessity, and working on the set shows him how the entertainment industry runs behind the camera. His first weeks there are spent in friction with Third, and the two gradually grow closer as filming goes on.

The cast around them includes Renji (Ryujin Tinnapat Tusnytraitep), Time (Patji Jirachart Buspavanich) and View (Punch Puntita Boonchuan). Mr. Fanboy is a Thai Boys' Love comedy-drama of twelve episodes, adapted from a novel, and it takes place across a university campus, fan events and a working film set.

Kla Nathawat Piyanonpong directs the twelve episodes of 55 to 64 minutes, produced by Mandee Work and Domundi TV, which air on One 31 on Saturdays from 29 August to 14 November 2026.

A series about a set, still being shot while it aired

Mr. Fanboy has an unusual timeline for a story about life on a film set. Principal photography ran from 20 February to 22 September 2026, and the first episode reached One 31 on 29 August. The opening episodes were therefore on air for almost a month before filming wrapped. A story about a production working to a schedule was itself made to one, with the weekly Saturday slot moving forward while the later episodes were still being shot.

What the title keeps and what it drops

The Thai title, รักสุดใจนายแฟนบอย, is a declaration addressed to a fanboy, and its first half reads as loving with all of one's heart. The English title drops that phrase and keeps only the label. In Thai the title names a feeling directed at a person, and in English it names a type of person. The story sits between the two readings, because Wan is introduced through what he does at fan events before anyone learns what he feels.

Where the music and the screenplay come from

The screenplay is credited to Dearest and Nithran Sisangngam, working from the novel by littlebbear96. The soundtrack keeps the cast close to the music: the opening theme, Fanboy, is performed by Auau, who plays Third, together with SVRN and Heart from the group BUS. No Pain No Gain, written by Noth of Getsunova and performed by Perses, runs 3 minutes 36 seconds, and Perses appeared at the premiere night at CentralWorld Live in Bangkok.

A set inside a set

The story within the story is a structural choice. Wan is cast in The Deep Between Us, so the series shows a production from the inside, with a series within the series being made in the background. Twelve episodes of 55 to 64 minutes add up to between eleven and nearly thirteen hours, a long run for the format, which leaves room for both the film set and the campus.

It suits viewers who like showbiz settings, enemies-to-lovers friction and fandom culture.

Themes

The three leads hold three different positions in the business of closeness. Nine is an emerging actor, so a public image is part of his work. Third is an actor whose job includes playing romance on screen. Wan is the fan who arrived with the feeling first and the profession second, and the series follows what that order does to him once he is inside the industry he used to watch from outside.

The story also puts the boundary between fan and performer at its starting point: Wan meets Third by being caught somewhere he should not be, before any casting has happened. Fandom and shipping culture drive the plot.

Interesting facts

  • A premiere night, Fanboy Gala Night, was held on 29 August 2026 at CentralWorld Live in Bangkok, the same day the first episode aired, with cast performances and the T-pop group Perses.
  • A busking event for the series took place at One Bangkok Park on 13 September 2026.
  • A special screening is scheduled for 3 October 2026 at Bravo BKK.

How it was made

The series was announced in February 2025 at Domundi TV's Line Up 2025+ Glow Up event at Siam Paragon in Bangkok, where a 14-minute pilot was screened. It was named again in iQIYI's iJOY TH 2026 lineup on 7 November 2025. Principal photography ran from 20 February to 22 September 2026. Kittipat Champa is executive producer and Nawaphon Natewong is producer.
