Andy Wu
BIOGRAPHY
Andy Wu (Chinese: 吳岳擎, Wu Yue-ching; born November 14, 1989 in Hualien County, Taiwan) is a Taiwanese actor signed to Song Da Entertainment. Born under the name Wu Chi-hung, he attended Hualien High School and studied International Business at Tamkang University before turning to performance, and trained at Q Place, the acting studio founded by a group of eight Taiwanese directors, graduating with its second cohort in 2015.
He debuted the following year in the Qseries anthology drama Life Plan A and B as Zhao Hui. His BL credits include Amensalism (2020) as Li Yao-qing, Dear Adam (2022) as Wei Jie and My Tooth Your Love (2022) as Bai Lang, the last produced by Sammi Pan and directed by Chiang Jui-chih, the same creative pairing behind Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars.
Outside the genre he has worked across Taiwanese television and film: 1000 Walls in Dream (2017) as Lin Wen-Pu, Jojo’s World (2017), Brave to Love (2019) in a dual role as Zhao Song-gang and Chen Kang-ze, Fairy in the House (2022), Women in Taipei (2022) as Van, Black Tide Island (2025) as Wu Ning and Bright Little Stars (2025). His film appearances include The Outsiders (2018) as Shan Li Chien and Where the River Flows (2025) as Major Shen. In 2026 he reunited with the My Tooth Your Love team on Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars, playing Brother Hong across seven episodes.
His television run also includes Jojo’s World, broadcast on TTV in 2017, where he played Zhang Xiao-shuo. Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars premiered on Thursday, March 26, 2026 on LINE TV in Taiwan, with twelve episodes of about thirty-seven minutes on average. Its story follows He Xiang-yong, who is laid off in Taipei, goes back to an island hometown and wishes not to be recognised; Jed Chung plays the adult Xiang-yong and Chu Meng-hsuan plays Chen Hao-wei. Wu sits in the supporting group beside Lee Lee-zen as Old He, Darren Chiu as Uncle Hua and Tsao Lan as Angela.
A BL role in 2022 led to a second role with the same producer and director in 2026.
Andy Wu played Bai Lang in My Tooth Your Love (2022), produced by Sammi Pan and directed by Chiang Jui-chih. He returned to that pairing for Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars, appearing in seven of its twelve episodes as Brother Hong.
His filmography builds through steady accumulation rather than one breakthrough. After graduating from Q Place in 2015 he debuted in 2016, and within two years the list holds 1000 Walls in Dream and Jojo’s World in 2017 and the film The Outsiders in 2018. His boys’ love work then arrives at intervals: Li Yao-qing in Amensalism in 2020, two parts in 2022 as Wei Jie and Bai Lang, and Brother Hong in 2026. The dual role of Zhao Song-gang and Chen Kang-ze in Brave to Love and Major Shen in the film Where the River Flows show how far his parts reach outside that genre, while seven of twelve episodes make Brother Hong a recurring presence rather than a single scene.
In my view, a second call from the same production team says more about a working relationship than any single credit does. The two parts differ in size, since Bai Lang is the man his series follows and Brother Hong appears in seven episodes, and I would watch them in that order to see what a smaller role asks of an actor after a central one.
The early years include more than acting. Before his 2016 debut he hosted a television programme in 2015, and his first year as a working actor also brought commercials for sunflower soymilk and oatmeal. A 2020 commercial for ginseng chicken essence followed. The same year he appeared in the music video for Cyndi Wang’s MY! CYNDI!, alongside Amensalism. His 2016 credits therefore span a drama debut and two product campaigns. In my view this mix of hosting, advertising and screen work shows an actor who learned the trade from several directions before settling into drama.
