Lately, It’s Winter Season
SYNOPSIS
Lately, It's Winter Season is a completed Thai boys love web novel about a young man who has everything except a reason to care. Tiger is the youngest son of the head of a powerful crime family, and life at home is anything but easy; the constant trouble around his father's business has left him drifting with no real direction, hiding a sharp, lonely edge behind a careless exterior. He stopped expecting warmth from anyone a long time ago, least of all himself. Everything begins to shift when he meets Dueannao, known to everyone simply as Nao, a new friend who is warm, kind, funny and forever thinking of the people around him. Nao is easy to be near in a way Tiger has rarely known, and just being around him starts to change how Tiger sees his own future.
The trouble is that somewhere along the way Tiger falls in love with his best friend without ever meaning to, and once he realizes it there is no going back. For all his tough heir image he turns out to be hopeless where it counts, stuck firmly in the friend zone for six long years and far too scared of losing what they already have to risk saying a word. His family does not make it easier, since the danger attached to his surname is exactly what a confession would hand to Nao. Much of the novel's charm comes from watching him resolve to change that anyway, with a stubborn, comedic determination to break out of friendship and become something more, even if it means turning his whole life around for Nao's sake. Football matches, family secrets and a steady drip of near misses keep dragging him back to the same unanswered question.
Written by Howlsairy, who publishes on Dek-D under the handle Howlvy, the novel belongs to the same connected campus world as the rest of the Fourever You stories. It was serialized free on Dek-D from 2022, runs to fifty-seven chapters, and was later collected into a complete two volume print set by the publisher Lavender. Beneath the jokes and the bravado it is a tender best friends to lovers story about loyalty, courage and the quiet power of someone who simply makes you a better person; the pining stays sweet rather than painful, and its PG-13 tone favors warmth over angst. Studio Wabi Sabi adapted it as the third and closing arc of Fourever You Part 2, with Pie Saranvut Nittayasuthi and Golf Pasatorn Lertsathitwong taking on Tiger and Nao.
