West: The Sun From Another Star
SYNOPSIS
West: The Sun from Another Star (Thai title อาทิตย์ดาวตก, read as Arthit Daotok) is a completed Thai boys love web novel by Howlsairy, first serialized online in 2019 and later released in print in 2020. The title is a play on its two leads' names, the sun (Arthit) and the falling star (Daotok), and the story belongs to the same connected world as Howlsairy's other Fourever You novels. It is the source material behind the Arthit and Daotok arc that became the supernatural centerpiece of Studio Wabi Sabi's Fourever You Part 2.
At the heart of the story is Daotok, a quiet, deadpan young man with an unusual sensitivity to the dead. When he moves into a new dorm, he finds the place is anything but empty: it is shared with four resident ghosts, each with a distinct personality and an unfinished story of their own. Far from a straight horror tale, the haunting is played for color and warmth as much as mystery, and it gradually pulls Daotok into untangling a troubling case from the past.
Into his strange, carefully guarded world barges Arthit, a senior who is rich, strikingly handsome, hot tempered, and famously blunt to the point of rudeness. He is the kind of larger than life character who should be impossible to like, yet beneath the brash, foul mouthed swagger sits a surprising, stubborn tenderness. Arthit decides almost on sight that he wants Daotok, and from there he simply refuses to give up.
What follows is a chaotic, very funny push and pull. Arthit confesses without hesitation, Daotok flatly turns him down, and Arthit only digs in harder, insisting he asks for nothing more than to stay by Daotok's side. As the ghostly mystery deepens and old secrets surface, the reserved star and the relentless sun slowly find their orbits pulling together, with Arthit's hidden warmth winning Daotok over through a sincerity unlike anyone he has known.
Tonally it is the boldest and rowdiest of the Fourever You novels, mixing supernatural mystery, comedy, and romance, and it is written as a mature title intended for readers aged 18 and over. Its devoted fanbase often points to Arthit as one of Howlsairy's most unforgettable leads, precisely because he is so rough around the edges and yet so easy to fall for.
The story built a huge following on the Thai platforms Dek-D and Tunwalai, where it was published free to read, and it was later collected into a complete two volume set by the publisher Lavender. It was adapted as the second arc of Fourever You Part 2 under the title The Sun from Another Star, with Ngern Anupart Luangsodsai and Oat Tharathon Phumphothingam bringing Arthit and Daotok to screen.
