North: How Much Is Your Love?

North: How Much Is Your Love? is a completed Thai boys love web novel built on a cheeky, feel good premise: what happens when someone puts a price tag on affection. North is an easygoing university student who coasts through his days without worrying much about anything, right up until one night ends with a great deal of broken and very expensive property. The bill leaves him more than a hundred thousand baht in debt to Johan, a wealthy, sharp tongued senior with a reputation for being as exacting as he is unimpressed. Johan has no intention of simply demanding the money back. Instead he proposes a playful repayment scheme that assigns a value to small gestures of affection, then offers to wipe the entire debt clean on a single condition: that North agrees to become his boyfriend.

North takes the deal, and what begins as a transaction refuses to stay one. The arrangement hands the two an excuse for constant, entertaining back and forth, with every negotiated favor turned into a running joke neither of them seems ready to stop playing. North's laid back charm steadily wears down Johan's guarded, work stressed exterior, and the reason a man like Johan would offer such a strange bargain in the first place turns out to have far less to do with money than it first appears. Pride keeps getting in the way, the terms of the contract keep blurring, and both eventually have to work out whether they are still settling a debt or simply avoiding the word for what has already happened between them.

The result is a light, warmhearted campus romance carried by witty banter, sweet messaging exchanges and the gradual softening of a tough love interest, all pitched at an easy PG-13 register. It was written by Howlsairy, who publishes on Dek-D under the handle Howlvy, and serialized there free to read from 2019 as part of the connected Fourever You stories. The completed forty-three chapter novel was later collected into a two volume print set by the publisher Lavender, and an official English language e-book has since been released for readers outside Thailand. Studio Wabi Sabi adapted it as one of the storylines in the 2024 series Fourever You, with Maxky Ratchata Pichetshote and Bas Hatsanat Piniwat as Johan and North, a pairing popular enough to earn its own spin off special, The Glowing of Love.
