I Told Sunset About You

I Told Sunset About You follows Teh, played by Billkin Putthipong Assaratanakul, and Oh-aew, played by PP Krit Amnuaydechkorn. The two meet as young people in Phuket, and the series builds its story around their friendship and the way it changes over time.

The supporting cast includes Nat Kitcharit, Smile, Khunpol and Dream. The setting is a distinctive part of the series: Phuket is the backdrop, and Chinese-language tutorials form part of the world the characters live in, which gives the story a particular place and community rather than a generic campus.

I Told Sunset About You was produced by Nadao Bangkok and directed by Naruebet Kuno for its first part. The first part ran for five episodes on LINE TV, from 22 October 2020 to 19 November 2020. It is an original story and is not adapted from a novel, which makes it the one title in this group of classic Thai BL series that did not start on the page.

The story continued in a second part, retitled I Promised You the Moon in 2021. Because the first part is only five episodes, it works as a short, self contained introduction to the pair before the continuation.

The title is a good fit for a viewer who wants something brief. Five episodes can be watched in a single evening or across a week, and the story is set up to leave the viewer wanting the continuation. The tone is quiet and personal, with the friendship between Teh and Oh-aew in front and the wider cast in support.
