Bruce Chiu

Bruce Chiu Yi-tai (Chinese: 邱以太; born 8 September 1999 in Taipei) is a Taiwanese actor. He plays Lin Jiakai across the thirteen episodes of Connecting to You (2026), the GrX Studio Boys’ Love series adapted from Beck’s web novel.

He began on screen in 2019 with the sports film We Are Champions (下半場), playing Li Yen-tai, and has worked steadily in Taiwanese film and television since. His credits include After School (成功補習班, 2023) as Cheng Hsiang, Suffocating Love (2024), The Chronicles of Libidoists (2024), Luke in the 1990s-set high school film The Uniform (夜校女生, 2025), Haunted Mountains: The Yellow Taboo (2025) and the series Oops! I’m in Jail (2025). In 2026 he appears in Bloody Smart (聰明鎮), Welcome to Dolly’s House in a voice role, and Connecting to You.

He is a second-generation performer. His father is the entertainer Gao Ren-jie (高人傑) and his mother is the television presenter Lin Yeh-ting (林葉亭).

Two Boys’ Love credits, seven years apart in form

Only two of his titles carry Boys’ Love classification on their own records: After School, a 118 minute feature released to cinemas on 22 September 2023, and Connecting to You, a thirteen episode streaming series arriving in 2026. We have checked the rest individually rather than assuming, and they do not carry the classification, The Uniform included, despite its school setting and its frequent appearance in queer film discussion.

BLGLFlix editorial view. That pair of credits is a small illustration of something structural about Taiwan, and it is worth setting against Thailand. In Thailand a Boys’ Love actor is usually a studio’s actor, and the work arrives as series after series from one production company. In Taiwan there is no equivalent pipeline, so the same performer moves between a theatrical feature financed like an ordinary Taiwanese film and, years later, a series commissioned by a platform. Elsewhere in our catalogue we have noted how consistently Taiwanese Boys’ Love titles are platform-commissioned rather than studio-owned. His filmography adds the other half of that picture: the cinema half. It is why a Taiwanese actor’s queer credits tend to sit three or four years apart with unrelated genre work in between, while a Thai contemporary of the same age may have six Boys’ Love series in the same window. Neither pattern is better. They are different financing systems producing different careers, and reading a Taiwanese actor’s sparse Boys’ Love record as a lack of commitment misreads the industry he works in.
