Dale Wu

Dale Wu is supervising producer on the first season of Fragrance of the First Flower and also appears in it, as a wedding hostess.

Warner Music is credited as a production company on First Note of Love, next to GagaOOLala and Portico Media. The series is a twelve episode Taiwanese BL story about a musician and the idol he admires, so a record label’s involvement fits its subject.

The hostess part is a single episode of a six episode season, a small on-screen role for someone whose main credit sits in the production office.

The two productions can be set side by side. The 2021 season is six episodes and the 2024 series is twelve, so the later title is exactly twice as long, and the job title moves with it from supervising producer to producer. Twelve episodes of twenty five minutes come to five hours of screen time, which makes First Note of Love a compact series built from short episodes, set against a shorter season in 2021. Both titles were released on the twelfth of a month, 12 November 2021 and 12 August 2024, and no other title falls between them. The second season of 2025 carries no credit for Dale Wu either, so the two-title run rests on the first season and on the later musician story.

In my view the useful thing to notice is how a production role can stay constant across very different series. Whether a title runs six episodes or twelve, the producing credit marks who carried the practical weight of getting it made, and Dale Wu holds one on each of the two productions.

I would begin with First Note of Love, because it is the title where the producer credit is the main one and where the involvement of a record label is easiest to see in the story of a musician.
