Dom Hetrakul

Dom Hetrakul (Thai: ดอม เหตระกูล; born 9 April 1976), also credited as Dom Haetrakul, is a Thai actor, television host and model with one of the longest continuous careers of anyone appearing in this vertical. His screen work runs from 1998 to the present and includes Thai historical epics, international co-productions, prime-time lakorn and, twice, queer titles: Coach Tee in Waterboyy (2017) and Niran’s father in WEIRDO-101 (2026).

He is the eldest son of Pracha Hetrakul, executive chairman of the Thai newspaper Daily News. He was educated at Assumption College in Bang Rak, Bangkok, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the international college of Mahidol University, taken in English. He entered the industry after being encouraged by Mingkwan Saengsuwan, first reaching the final five of the 1994 Praew young man and woman contest, then taking guest roles in television dramas before moving into film leads near the end of his degree with Crime Kings (1998) and La Rabert Muang.

Through the 2000s he worked steadily across both Thai and foreign productions. Thai television took him through Channel 3 dramas including Kalapangha, Khoei Likay, 5 Khom and Leh Lap Salap Rang, and Channel 5’s Saen Saep, alongside hosting duties on the programme Kratuk Nam Toei. Internationally he appeared in Sniper 3 (2004), The King Maker (2005), Vampires: The Turning (2005), Jules Verne’s Mysterious Island (2005), Bangkok Dangerous (2008), The Marine 2 (2009), Bangkok Revenge (2011) and the Austrian-produced Twilight Over Burma (2015).

At home he took major roles in Thailand’s historical cinema, including At the Gate of the Ghost (2011) and both The Legend of King Naresuan 3 and 4 (2011) as Suea Harnfah. From the mid-2010s his television output became prolific and often very long-form: Love’s Tempest (2018, 39 episodes), Melodies of Love (2019, 32 episodes), Dhevaprom (2024, 31 episodes), The Giver (2022, 26 episodes), The Family (2023, 25 episodes), Better off Mine (2020, 24 episodes) and The Sweetest Taboo (2024, 21 episodes). He has recurred in the Club Friday anthology across three separate seasons, playing Barami and Wiwat.

In 2021 he appeared as Pornchai in the first season of The White Lotus, which brought him to a large audience outside Southeast Asia. His 2025 slate included Happiness, Love in the Moonlight as General Kalong, My Mother’s Recipe and two Club Friday entries. Outside acting he runs Brit Bike Co. Ltd., the Thai importer and distributor for Triumph motorcycles.

BLGLFlix editorial view. The date on his BL credit is the interesting part. Waterboyy aired in 2017, before 2gether, before the genre carried any prestige at all, at a point when Thai BL was still widely treated by the mainstream industry as niche youth content. An actor who by then had Hollywood credits, two Naresuan films and a decade of Channel 3 leads behind him took the coach role anyway. Nine years later he is back in the vertical in WEIRDO-101. Read across a whole career, that pattern says something the genre’s own success narrative tends to obscure: established Thai actors were willing to work in BL well before it was safe or lucrative to do so, and the genre’s legitimacy was built partly on their willingness rather than only on the fandoms that arrived later. Our own read is that this is worth remembering whenever a BL production is described as having elevated itself. In a good many cases the industry showed up first and the recognition followed.
