Kanichiro

Kanichiro (Japanese: 寛一郎; born August 16, 1996) is a Japanese actor signed to Humanite. He plays Itsuki Hasegawa opposite Kentaro Ito’s Yuma Kasuga in the 2026 MBS boys’ love drama The Boy and I Who Will Break Up in 100 Days, based on the novel by the late Asahara Naoto.

Born in Setagaya, Tokyo, he comes from a well-known acting family: his father is actor Koichi Sato and his grandfather was the late actor Rentaro Mikuni. He decided to pursue acting at eighteen and, after finishing high school, spent a short period studying in Los Angeles before returning to Japan to begin his career.

He made his screen debut in the film Kiku to Girochin (Chrysanthemum and Guillotine), shot in 2016 and released in 2018, and formally entered the industry in 2017. His performances have been recognized with the Best New Actor prize at the 33rd Takasaki Film Festival, Newcomer Actor honors at the 27th Japan Movie Critics Awards and the 92nd Kinema Junpo Best Ten, and the Supporting Actor prize at the 28th Japan Movie Critics Awards. His other credits include the films Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda and Namiya Zakkaten no Kiseki, and the television drama Grand Maison Tokyo.
