Kota Kagami

Kota Kagami (Japanese: 各務孝太; born May 2, 1997 in Nagoya, Japan) is a Japanese-Taiwanese actor who works primarily in the Taiwanese industry. He was born and raised in Nagoya and attended elementary school in Japan through the sixth grade before his family relocated to Taichung so that he could learn Chinese; he later attended high school in Taiwan and the family eventually settled in Taipei.

His route into performance was inherited rather than planned. Kagami has said in interviews that his father had wanted to be an actor in Japan but gave the ambition up, and that pursuing an entertainment career was in part a way of completing it for him. While still in high school he was recruited by an older student for a television segment featuring high-school newcomers, and afterwards joined the training programme Star Group Project, rehearsing daily from the afternoon until three in the morning.

On screen he has moved between Japanese-coded supporting roles and Taiwanese leads. His film work includes We Are Champions (2019) as Ting Kuo-Feng, When Green Turns to Gold (2019) as Kimura, Bin Bin (2020) and Fly Me to the Moon (2024). In television he appeared in Fly the Jumper (2020) as Lee Wenjing and then in the BL series Lesson in Love (2022), where he played Sato Takita across twelve episodes. In 2026 he joined the Taiwanese BL series Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars as Aomi Hamaguchi, credited in the drama’s Chinese-language storyline as Xiao Hai, appearing in all twelve episodes. He is fluent in Japanese and Mandarin Chinese and is frequently cast in roles that draw on both.
