There is a thread running through his filmography that is invisible if you only count the BL. Detention is set in a school under martial law in the 1960s. Marching Boys is set in 1992, five years after martial law was lifted, and is about a student choosing music over the future planned for him. Two of his films are about Taiwan’s authoritarian period and what came after it, and his newest work is a Boys’ Love series distributed openly across five platforms. No political argument should be built out of one actor’s credits. It is worth noting simply that a filmography can hold that shape in Taiwan and could not hold it in most of the territories whose BL this site covers.

The distribution on Connecting to You is worth recording in its own right. Viki, GagaOOLala, MyVideo, friDay Video and iQIYI International, all carrying the same thirteen-episode series. Compare that with much of the Chinese-language BL in this catalogue, where a single Taiwanese platform, GagaOOLala, is often the only route to an international audience. A Taiwanese production gets five doors; a mainland one frequently gets one. That is not a claim about quality, it is a description of where these shows are allowed to be sold. It is also why a database of Chinese-language queer drama that does not watch GagaOOLala closely will miss most of it.

On him personally the record is unusually complete for this site: a date of birth, a place of birth, an IMDb identifier, three photographs. What it does not carry is any biography at all, no agency, no Wikidata item, and no confirmed social account.
