samK
BIOGRAPHY
samK is the pen name of a South Korean Boys’ Love novelist and webtoon writer. She or he is the author of Payback (페이백), the web novel and subsequent manhwa that the 2026 Thai series of the same name adapts, and is credited on that production as its original story writer. No biographical information about the person behind the name has been published: no legal name, no birth date, no photograph, no interviews, and no social media presence.
The Payback story began as a web novel in 2010. It was adapted into a manhwa serialised on Bomtoon from June 2, 2021, with art by Fujoking, and published in English by Lezhin Comics. The webtoon accumulated more than 20.48 million views and has been translated into more than eight languages. Sources disagree on where it ended: MyAnimeList records 110 chapters running to August 20, 2025, while other records give 95 chapters to November 20, 2024 plus a seven-volume print run and a separate Abduction arc from March 2025.
The original novel follows Lee Yoohan, a debt collector who loses his brother to violence and his savings to his own ex-lover, and who five years later pursues an acting career to get close enough to take revenge — only to be offered a shortcut by an industry powerhouse named Yoon Jay. The Thai adaptation transposes that structure directly, renaming the leads Theemekha “Sun” Rungsapdee and Athip “Jay” Wanitsakitphaisan.
Payback is not an isolated success. samK has built a substantial catalogue on the same model — write the novel, then supply the story for a manhwa adaptation drawn by someone else. Half of Me began as a 2014 novel, became a manhwa on Lezhin from 2022 with art by JUHAN, and was itself adapted into a Korean series in 2025 running fifty-one episodes, again with samK credited on the original story. December (novel 2021, manhwa 2021–2024), Regas (novel 2019, manhwa from 2023), Dazzling Breath (novel 2024, manhwa from 2025), The Perfect (manhwa 2023–2026) and Expiration Date (manhwa from 2025) follow the same pattern.
That makes samK one of the more heavily adapted Korean BL prose writers of the 2010s and 2020s, and Payback the first of those works to cross into Thai live action. TMDB records the writing credit but holds no photograph, no external identifiers and no biography. BLGLFLIX leaves every physical, personal and social field on this profile empty, because a pen name with no published identity behind it is exactly the case where guessing would be indefensible.
