Yoon Se-a
BIOGRAPHY
Yoon Se-a (Korean: 윤세아; born 2 January 1978 in Daegu) is a South Korean actor. Her legal name is Kim Bo-young (김보영). She studied theatre at Yong In University and has worked on screen since 2005. In 2026 she plays Kang Ji-hye in Four Hands, Two Sonatas (포핸즈).
Her screen work begins in the mid-2000s with the film Blood Rain (2005) and the drama Lovers in Prague (2005), followed by Smile Again (2006), the 125-episode So in Love (2006), the period film Shadows in the Palace (2007) as Hee-bin, and Love Marriage (2008). Through the late 2000s and early 2010s she took leading parts in several long daily dramas, including You Are So Pretty (2011, 135 episodes), My Love, Madame Butterfly (2012, 51 episodes) and Eve’s Love (2015, 120 episodes), alongside A Gentleman’s Dignity (2012) and Kangchi, the Beginning (2013).
In 2017 and 2018 she played Lee Yeon-jae in Stranger (2017), Queen Park in My Sassy Girl (2017), Ma-ri in Just Between Lovers (2017), Oh Tae-ri in The Good Witch (2018) and Noh Seung-hye across all twenty episodes of SKY Castle (2018).
Since then she has worked across cable, network and streaming: Melting Me Softly (2019), Snowdrop (2021) as Pi Seung-hee, The Road: The Tragedy of One (2021), Perfect Family (2024), Hierarchy (2024) as An Hye-won, and Love Me (2025) as Jin Ja-young. On film she has appeared in Doomsday Book (2012), A Man and a Woman (2016), Bluebeard (2017), Honest Candidate (2020) and Homecam (2025). She has also served as a public ambassador for the Seoul Association for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, the national hand-washing campaign and a food-sharing charity.
Several of her best known television parts sit between those two stretches. She played Kang Hye-joo in Lovers in Prague and Lady Yang Hyebin in The Great King, Sejong (2008). City Hall (2009) gave her Go Go-hae, Wife Returns (2009) gave her Min Seo-hyun, and in A Gentleman’s Dignity she was Hong Se-ra. Later parts include Na Ha-yeong in Melting Me Softly and Seon-hwa in Sweet Home 2 (2023), as well as Seo Eun-soo in The Road: The Tragedy of One. On film she also appeared in Parallel Life (2010) and Funny Neighbors (2011).
Away from drama she has also been a presence in variety and reality programmes. She took part in the first eleven episodes of Movie Holic in 2011 and joined the fourth season of We Got Married for episodes 131 to 159. Her later appearances include Law of the Jungle in Palau (2015) and Three Meals a Day: Mountain Village (2019).
Kang Ji-hye is the mother of the piano prodigy Kang Bi-o and a former ballerina.
Yoon Se-a plays Kang Ji-hye in Four Hands, Two Sonatas, a twelve-episode tvN series set at an elite music high school.
The series follows two young pianists who meet at the school. Her role is on the adult side of that setting.
Her earlier credits include two other stories built around elite education: SKY Castle (2018), where she appears in all twenty episodes, and Hierarchy (2024).
In my view her list is unusual for how far it reaches across formats, from period drama and long daily serials to prestige cable and reality television. What stayed with me is how often the adult in her scenes shapes the young people around them. If you want to see her at her sharpest, I would begin with SKY Castle, where she appears in all twenty episodes, and then watch how the adult roles in Four Hands, Two Sonatas frame the students.
