What happens

Love Penalty (반칙부터 시작할까요?) is a South Korean boys' love web series that premiered on YouTube on Tuesday 15 September 2026 at 9 PM Korean time. It runs for ten episodes of about 24 minutes each, with new episodes arriving every Tuesday and Friday at 9 PM on the CITYBOY_LOG channel.

The Korean title asks "Shall we start with breaking the rules?", and the story is built on that idea of stepping over a line that should have been left alone. The official description says the relationship that began with suspicion became the most dangerous foul, and it follows three people from the moment they cross the boundary they should have stopped at.

The trailer opens at the end of the green season, when the gazes of three people meet across the court. Han U Ju holds his breath to hide a secret, Song Han Bin reaches out to uncover the truth, and Cha Se Jin returns with the past in his hands. Episode 1 begins on the first day of a volleyball training camp, where Song Han Bin joins the team.

Hong Dong Geon plays Han U Ju, Kim Seong Hyuk plays Cha Se Jin and Lee Geon Ho plays Song Han Bin. The series is released exclusively on the CITYBOY_LOG YouTube channel. Episodes 1 and 2 are open to all viewers, and from episode 3 onward the episodes are available to channel members. A two part behind the scenes programme, Love Penalty Behind, accompanies the drama.

Because the episodes are short and arrive twice a week, the ten episode run is spread across about five weeks from the first release, which suits a story built around a single escalating situation rather than a long list of separate plots.

A title that starts with the foul

반칙부터 시작할까요? puts the transgression at the beginning of the sentence. The title names the crossing of a line as the starting point, and the question mark turns it into an invitation addressed to the viewer as much as to the characters.

Three people across one court

The series is framed around three people rather than a pair. Han U Ju, Cha Se Jin and Song Han Bin are played by Hong Dong Geon, Kim Seong Hyuk and Lee Geon Ho, and the trailer gives each a clear position in the triangle. A relationship that begins in suspicion carries a different kind of tension from one that begins in attraction, since every gesture has to be read twice. With ten episodes of about 24 minutes, the story has room to let that doubt develop without hurrying toward a resolution.

Sport as vocabulary

The distinctive choice is the language. The word in the title, 반칙, is the word for a foul, and the English tagline calls the relationship the most dangerous foul. The trailer places the three leads on opposite sides of a court, and episode 1 opens on the first day of a volleyball training camp. Rules, penalties and sides are therefore part of how the story talks about desire and secrecy, which gives the title a literal and a figurative meaning at once.

Built for a channel audience

The series is released exclusively on the CITYBOY_LOG YouTube channel, so viewers arrive through a channel they may already follow rather than through a broadcaster's schedule. Episodes 1 and 2 are open to everyone and the rest are reserved for channel members, which gives the first two episodes the job of persuading viewers to continue. Releases on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 PM Korean time keep the story close together in the viewer's week.

Behind the scenes

The companion programme Love Penalty Behind adds two further episodes about the production. For viewers who finish an episode and want more of the cast, it extends the series beyond the ten main episodes without adding to the plot itself.

Themes

The central idea of Love Penalty is transgression as a starting point. The Korean title proposes beginning with the broken rule, and the story treats a relationship that began in suspicion as a breach of the rules. The story therefore starts after the line has been crossed and follows what the three leads do with that fact.

Each lead stands in a different relation to the past. Secrecy, suspicion and return give the triangle its structure, while the court and the training camp supply the shared ground on which the three meet.
