BIOGRAPHY
Lan Lin (Chinese: 蓝淋, also credited as 蓝小咩) is a Chinese danmei novelist whose work has been adapted for the screen six times. She is best known as the author of A Round Trip to Love (双程系列), the series of web novels behind both the 2016 film duology and the 2026 boys’ love drama Double Helix.
A Round Trip to Love reached the screen first as two films released on 12 and 28 September 2016. A decade later the same novels were adapted again, this time as a twelve episode series. Double Helix (双程) ran from 8 May to 13 June 2026, produced by Here We Go Production Company with Mejoy Entertainment, directed by Li Yingyi, and released worldwide outside Japan and South Korea through GagaOOLala, Viki, YouTube and Viu. It is a China and Singapore co-production starring Ayden Sng as Lu Feng and Lyu Sitong as Cheng Yichen: a model student and a rebellious heir whose relationship is forced to end when a photograph of them circulates, and who meet again years later as employee and boss.
Around the two leads the series places Fa Xuange, He Jiashu, Li Keyi, Yang Kexin, Miao Jing’ou, Qiu Ziyi and Long Jiayu. The story runs across two time frames, an earlier period and a working life years later.
Three further adaptations of her novels are in production and have not yet been released: 逆风而行 (Against the Wind), 君子之交 and 错觉. All three carry the boys’ love keyword and two are based on web novels. On Double Helix and on 逆风而行 she holds a separate Creator credit alongside the novel credit.
One novel series has become two films in 2016 and a twelve episode series in 2026, with three more adaptations now in production.
The 2016 films and the 2026 series share the same source novels and the same lead characters, Lu Feng and Cheng Yichen. The films were released sixteen days apart, and the series followed ten years later.
Half of her six adaptations are still ahead of the audience, since three remain in production without a release date. Of the three already out, two are films and one is a series, and the series took its twelve episodes from 8 May to 13 June 2026, a release window of just over five weeks. The separate Creator credit appears on two titles only, Double Helix and 逆风而行, which places it on the newest releases and on one of the titles still in production. Both 2016 films and the 2026 series tell one relationship, so her best-known story has now reached viewers in two formats.
What stayed with me is how patient this body of work is. A writer whose first screen credit dates from 2016 is still being adapted in 2026, and the same pair of characters has been cast twice by different teams. If you are new to her stories, I would start with Double Helix because it is the easiest to find, and then look for the 2016 films to see how a decade changed the telling.
