Thai everyday speech solves duplicate nicknames the practical way, by numbering them, so the first one becomes Ko Neung, literally Ko One, and the second becomes Ko Song, Ko Two. Nobody in the show chose those labels. Classmates, teachers and parents assigned them, and the boys have been carrying them since childhood.
That is a better setup than it first sounds. The series never has to explain why these two are constantly compared, ranked and mentioned together, because the language around them does it automatically.
