Chatayodom Hiranyasthiti has thirty years of Thai television behind him and a shelf of prizes to go with it: Best Actor at the Komchadluek Awards in 2007, Best Leading Actor at the TV Gold Awards in 2008, Best Supporting Actor in 2011, two more Komchadluek wins in 2024 for To the Moon and Back and The Betrayal, and Actor of the Year at the 9Entertain Awards the same year.

In The Edge of Horizon he is Prince Vasin, whose refusal to accept his son’s bond with a commoner is the engine of the separation the whole series turns on. A production putting an actor of that standing into the obstacle role rather than a sympathetic one is spending its most credible performer on the position the audience is meant to argue with.

He also directs, which the profession field records. Performers who have sat in both chairs are rare here, and it tends to show in how they play scenes built around what a character refuses to say.
