What happens

Match Point (รักนี้ต้องเสิร์ฟ, RTGS: Rak Ni Tong Soep) is a Thai Boys’ Love series that premiered on GMM25 on 26 July 2026. It ran ten weekly episodes on Sunday nights through to 27 September 2026, with the rerun going up on the oneD app an hour after each broadcast.

Sun (Ping Krittanun Aunchananun), full name Yotsawit Thiticharoen, is the well behaved son and the school’s tennis player. Bay (Teshow Promsakha Na Sakolnakron), full name Benyu Tharnweeranan, is an arts student with a shelf of competition wins and no interest in behaving at all. Their fathers have loathed each other since their own school days, and the two families run rival dim sum restaurants on the same road.

Sun tries to negotiate a truce so they can get through their final semester in peace. Bay enters a tennis tryout purely to needle him one last time, Sun joins the match to make a point and loses it to an injury, and the principal orders a rematch. The fathers turn that rematch into a wager of their own: whichever son loses, that family shuts its restaurant for good. When both boys are hurt on the day, the principal puts them on the same side of the net instead, as a doubles pair. Everything after that is the part they have to keep from their fathers, helped along by tennis coach Kong (Chimon Wachirawit Ruangwiwat), who is spending a conspicuous amount of time around Bay’s older brother Boat (Sing Harit Cheewagaroon).

The series is directed by Sakon Tiacharoen and was announced at GMMTV’s 2026 lineup event in November 2025. Filming ran from 22 February to 6 July 2026, and in May 2026 the production was confirmed to have received a funding grant from the Department of Cultural Promotion under Thailand’s Ministry of Culture.

A school BL whose fathers' wager keeps the older generation inside the story.

A sports rivalry gives a school BL a reason for the leads to share a room that has nothing to do with wanting to be there. Two people who have spent years trying to beat each other are told that from now on they only win together, and the show watches that land.

A family restaurant is staked on a school tennis match, which keeps the two fathers at the centre of the plot instead of at its edge. Chai Chartayodom Hiranyasthiti and Am Amarin Nitipon get real screen time in the early episodes rather than serving as obstacles.

The principal's ruling puts both injured boys on the same side of the net, which turns a rivalry into a partnership by institutional order instead of by choice, and the partnership has to be learned point by point. Chimon Wachirawit Ruangwiwat's Kong and Sing Harit Cheewagaroon's Boat give the story a second couple on the edge of the court.

What to expect: a 13+ rating, ten weekly Sunday episodes from 26 July to 27 September 2026, and a second couple alongside the leads.

Ten episodes of 41 to 46 minutes come to between 6.8 and 7.7 hours.

The episodes ran on Sundays from 26 July to 27 September 2026. GMM25 broadcast at 20:30, with the oneD app carrying each episode an hour later.

The production credit is shared between GMMTV and Keng Kwang Kang. Filming ran from 22 February to 6 July 2026, and in May 2026 the production was confirmed to have received a grant from the Department of Cultural Promotion under Thailand's Ministry of Culture.

Two who are set against each other from the start, and the rivalry turns out to be feeding one of them.

He has built a life around having someone to push against. The moment it comes into focus is when he learns the other one might leave, and he does everything he can think of to hold him.

It goes from a friendship made of conflict into something else, and it makes that trip sweetly.

Themes

The Thai title, รักนี้ต้องเสิร์ฟ, carries a pun the English one cannot. เสิร์ฟ is the borrowed word "serve", and in Thai it covers both the stroke that opens a tennis point and what a restaurant does with a plate of food. Both senses are live here, and the title names the single verb the whole situation runs on.

Tennis is doing structural work as well. A grudge has no scoring system, which is how one can be carried for decades without ever being settled. A tennis match does have one. That is precisely what makes a wager on it attractive, because it converts something unresolvable into a game obliged by its own rules to produce a winner.

Which is why the principal's ruling lands as hard as it does. It removes the one thing the wager was for, a result naming which family was right. The bet survives and the mechanism that was meant to settle it does not.

Interesting facts

  • Both soundtrack singles are performed by the two leads themselves. "Love Match" was released on 24 July 2026, two days ahead of the broadcast premiere, and "ได้เวลารัก (Love Time)" followed on 30 August 2026, partway through the run.
  • The series opened with a cinema screening at World Max Cinema on 26 July 2026, the same day episode one went out on GMM25.

How it was made

The screenplay credit extends beyond Supachod Kajonsiripong to Suwanun Pohgudsai and Sornpanath Patpho. Sataporn Panichraksapong and Darapa Choeysanguan are credited as executive producers, with Ekkasit Trakulkasemsuk, Nuttapong Mongkolsawas and Supaporn Lertthitiverakarn producing, and Prompong Jareansook on cinematography.

The supporting cast was revealed in stages while the shoot was still running. Bhobdhama Hansa, Naruth Prateeppavameta and Tarnpol Pongnarisorn were announced on 17 March 2026, followed by Thanchanok Tinsulanonda and Ratapirom Bandapraneat on 21 April 2026. The Department of Cultural Promotion grant was confirmed on 21 May 2026, roughly six weeks before filming wrapped.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does the Thai title do that the English one cannot?

It carries a pun on the borrowed word serve, which in Thai covers both the stroke that opens a tennis point and what a restaurant does with a plate of food.

Why does the tennis matter structurally?

A match has a scoring system and a grudge does not, so a wager on it turns something unresolvable into a game that must produce a winner.

Who plays Sun and Bay?

Ping Krittanun Aunchananun plays Sun, full name Yotsawit Thiticharoen, the well-behaved son, and Teshow Promsakha Na Sakolnakron plays Bay. Is it taken from a book?

No. It was announced as an original production at the GMMTV 2026: Magic Vibes Maximized line-up event on 25 November 2025.

When were the two songs released?

Both are performed by the leads themselves. Love Match went out on 24 July 2026, two days ahead of the broadcast premiere, and ได้เวลารัก (Love Time) followed on 30 August, partway through the season.

Did it open anywhere other than television?

Yes. A cinema screening was held at World Max Cinema on 26 July 2026, the same day episode one went out on GMM25.

Who worked on it behind the camera?

Sakon Tiacharoen directed, with a screenplay credit extending beyond Supachod Kajonsiripong to Suwanun Pohgudsai and Sornpanath Patpho. Prompong Jareansook shot it, and Sataporn Panichraksapong and Darapa Choeysanguan were executive producers for GMMTV and Keng Kwang Kang.
