BIOGRAPHY
Asahara Naoto (Japanese: 浅原ナオト) was a Japanese author of literary boys’ love (BL) fiction. He wrote the source novel for the 2026 MBS drama The Boy and I Who Will Break Up in 100 Days, the last work published in his lifetime.
He worked as a company employee while writing, and began serializing fiction on KADOKAWA’s Kakuyomu web-novel platform in October 2016. His debut published novel, Kanojo ga Suki na Mono wa Homo de Atte Boku de wa Nai (2018), was adapted into the NHK drama Fujoshi, Ukkari Gay ni Koku. (2019), screenplay by Naoyuki Miura. His other works include Okachimachi Kaguya Nights, #Tsukamori Yuta ga Login Shitara, and Konya, Moshi Boku ga Shinanakereba (2021).
His final novel, 100-nichi-go ni Wakareru Boku to Kare (The Boy and I Who Will Break Up in 100 Days), was published by KADOKAWA on May 19, 2023. He died of malignant lymphoma on July 16, 2023, at a hospital in Sumida, Tokyo, at the age of 38, only weeks after the novel’s release. The 2026 television adaptation was produced without his direct involvement, as a tribute to his final work.
