What happens

Fahlada Thananusak (Sirilak Kwong) is a doctor known around her hospital as the "angel doctor," carrying herself with quiet composure that hides the scars left by a relationship that ended badly years earlier. That composure is tested the moment Sanitada "Earn" Phongpipat (Kornnaphat Sethratanapong), the ex-girlfriend who once hurt her the most, is hired as the hospital's new brand spokesperson, placing the two women back in each other's daily orbit whether Fahlada is ready for it or not. What should be a straightforward professional arrangement reopens a wound neither of them ever fully addressed.

As Fahlada tries to keep Earn at a professional distance, The Secret of Us traces what went wrong between them the first time and whether either woman has changed enough to try again. Colleagues Susi (Chatsak Mahata), Tan (Jakarin Puribhat), Bow (Dandao Yamapai), and Wisanu (Natthanit Praditthan) fill out the hospital setting around them. At home, Fahlada's parents, Russamee (Apasiri Nitibhon) and Phuthares (Paramej Noiam), and Earn's mother, Jintana (Narumon Phongsupap), add family history and old disapproval to a relationship that already has enough working against it.

Directed by Saratswadee Wongsomphet, with a television screenplay by Piyaporn Wayuparp, Nitinun Supappong and Tinna Simapaisal for Thai broadcaster Channel 3, The Secret of Us adapts the Thai novel ใจซ่อนรัก by author Mee Nam into an eight-episode series that aired weekly from 24 June to 12 August 2024. Its two leads, Sirilak Kwong and Kornnaphat Sethratanapong, are known as the pairing Ling and Orm, and the series is a slow-burn second-chance romance built on the everyday friction of working alongside a former partner.

The Secret of Us takes an office reunion between exes and places it in a hospital, where Dr. Fahlada Thananusak and hospital spokesperson Earn Phongpipat cannot avoid each other.

A Breakup Story Told In Reverse

Rather than building toward a first confession, The Secret of Us starts from the wreckage of a relationship that already happened, using Fahlada's guarded "angel doctor" reputation as a shield the series spends eight episodes slowly dismantling. Sirilak Kwong plays that guardedness with restraint, letting small cracks show well before Fahlada is ready to admit Earn's return has affected her.

Kornnaphat Sethratanapong's Earn arrives with just enough ambiguity, half attempt at repair, half unresolved feeling, to keep the central question open: did she come back for the job, or for Fahlada.

What Works

  • The hospital setting gives the leads a believable reason to keep colliding.
  • Chatsak Mahata's Susi provides outside perspective on the central couple's avoidance.
  • Sirilak Kwong and Kornnaphat Sethratanapong, known as Ling and Orm, anchor even the quieter workplace scenes.

An Eight-Episode Run

Eight episodes carry years of unresolved history, family disapproval on both sides, and a slow-burn reconciliation, with the final stretch drawing those threads together.

Final Score: 8.1/10

A Thai novel by Mee Nam stands behind this series, and it has its own page.

Piyaporn Wayuparp, Nitinun Supappong and Tinna Simapaisal turned the book into the eight-episode screenplay that Channel 3 produced in 2024. The novel is covered on its own page, The Secret of Us (Novel).

The English series title and the Thai title of the book are not the same phrase, so a reader searching under the name they know from the show can miss the source. The two pages are linked so the author's credit stays with the book.

At eight episodes of about 50 minutes, 400 minutes in all, The Secret of Us is well under half the length of The Loyal Pin, which runs 1,056 minutes. That shows in the construction: one hospital, one couple's shared history and two families, told in eight consecutive Monday broadcasts on Channel 3 from 24 June to 12 August 2024.

The production also tested its idea in public. A mini pilot went onto YouTube on 14 February 2024 and a longer pilot on 2 April, about three months before the premiere. It suits viewers who like second-chance romances that unfold through workplace routine and who prefer a compact eight-episode season.

Themes

Both women are employed to be believed. Fahlada is the doctor patients trust on sight, the one the hospital calls its angel. Earn is hired as that same hospital's brand spokesperson, a job that consists entirely of making an institution credible to strangers. Credibility is the professional skill they share, and it is the one thing neither can produce for the other.

A hospital sharpens the irony. It is a building organised around disclosure, a place where people describe their pain in detail to someone they met minutes earlier, because the setting is designed to make that safe. The two leads walk those corridors daily and manage the reverse, withholding from the one person who already knows the history.

The English title rewards a second look for its plural. This is not one woman keeping something from another. It is two professionals, each fluent in the performance of composure, turning that fluency on each other and finding out how long it holds. The hospital, meanwhile, keeps putting them in the same room, which is the only reason the question ever gets answered.

Ruengwit Ramasoota served as cinematographer, and the series aired in Thailand on Mondays at 22:00.
